Compared to our past, and to most other countries, we have relatively little religious conflict and have seen one barrier after another fall.
True, but I would just like to say that if you narrowed the parameters and compared the U.S. to other 'first world' or 'developed' nations, the U.S. record, at present, is rather appalling. Foreign friends who come to visit me are always stunned to see how much religious intolerance still exists in this country.
Oh, and 'atheist' is the new 'gay'.

While still frustrated with Speaker Pelosi's resistance to impeachment hearings, it's starting to make more sense now. Why bother trying to the clear umpteen hurdles it would take in an impeachment process when you could more easily nail him once he no longer has the protection of his office? (though I pity the poor AG in the new Democratic administration....where to begin with the indictments?) I think this is the real reason why Bush is so desperate to avoid judicial review (And looking back, what a sensible decision it was for him to purchase that parcel of land in Paraguay!)

Tell you what? I don't think Krugman's that far off base. I'm pretty much astounded at the hostility coming from some Obama supporters. (so much so that I started to suspect that they might be Republican trolls masquerading as Obama lovers).
I support Hillary but I'd be very excited about an Obama win too. He's run an amazing campaign

To Bluebell:
That's not Hillary's problem. Hillary's problem is Billary. Hillary's problem is that she did not make it on her own.
Interesting enough, the exact opposite could be argued; that 'Bill' didn't make it on his own. People close to Clinton during the Arkansas years would readily admit to you that it was because of Hillary that Bill ascended back to the Governor's mansion in 1982 after his defeat in 1980 (and held it) She was both the brains and the brawn behind his campaign.

Suppose Hillary does win the nomination and then the general election. She's president for 4 years and gets nothing done because Republicans block her at every move.
Are Obama supporters so naive to think that the Republicans in Congress will give him a pass? That they won't try and obstruct everything he tries to do in his term in office? That they won't use 'fear of the negro' to whip up their racist, bigoted base? So then, won't the Democrats, 'in private', be kicking themselves for backing Obama instead of Hillary? "What fools we were to nominate a black man for President!"
Oh, please
