  • I'm downloaded the audio and it's playing just fine. If you right-click on this link and save the file to your machine before playing it, it should play for you.

  • From McCain's prickish interview:

I can only imagine what Saddam Hussein would be doing with the wealth he would acquire with oil at $110 and $120 a barrel.

This fool clearly has the mind of a toddler, with no understanding of cause and effect.

If we hadn't invaded Iraq, oil would still be priced at about $40 a barrel! The invasion of Iraq -- and the massive increase in its oil wealth -- is one of the biggest reasons Russia has started feeling its imperialist oats.

  • I'll be honest, until I saw that moment, I had some serious doubts about Obama chosing Biden.

My doubts have been considerably assuaged tonight.

  • Ah, I see that this is the C-Span video above.

The reaction I'm talking about is at about 6:00 in.

It's long enough that you can get the internal dialogue, ending with his adjustment of his lapels as he resolves again to make right the wrong he has done.

Am I reading too much into it?

  • During Uncle Teddy's speech, when he pointed out that Barack Obama would be a commander-in-chief who would never send our troops to fight in a mistake. C-Span cut to Biden's reaction, and I was pleased to note evidence of an uncomfortable conscience on Joe Biden's face; a personal recognition that, unlike Senator Kennedy, he had been a party to permitting that mistake. It looked like good, solid Catholic guilt; the kind that is followed in short order by a priest's admonition to "go and sin no more."

I foolishly recorded MSNBC's coverage, not C-Span's -- if they carried the same reaction shot, maybe I'll clip it and put it up on YouTube.

  • Likewise. At "10 billion a month in Ira-".

    No Q, silence thereafter.

  • This press release is pure CYA for Ensign.

He doesn't want to be the fall guy when the Senate ends up with a filibuster-proof Democratic majority.

Man, that would be some entertainment.
