I had the exact same reaction to the Iwo Jima picture.

Democrats need to ignore this kind of hand-wringing. They need to go right at Bush on this. Matt is right that the short answer is no, but the long answer is Hell No you guys are nuts for thinking about it, remember the last time we trusted you.

I like the way you frame the issue. Tying the bad policy to the corruption. We need to grap hold of this and hang on like a pit bull.

Lets face it. The world community will not help any government headed by GW Bush. His reckless unilateralist foriegn policy has precluded that. While Iraq is a problem for the whole world, it is not as much of a problem that Bush would be, if he were freed to use his military elsewhere.

I have a friend who is an attorney. He specializes in criminal law. His first inclination upon entering practice after the bar, was to work for the public defenders office. He ended up working for the DA because he was persuaded that having input into the cases the DA brought to trial, gave him a greater ability to address the injustices of the judicial system than he would have as a public defender.
Sometimes stoping the train before it starts is the most effective way of avoiding a train wreck.

We need our voices to be loud and clear. Let's celebrate Dr Dean, Al Gore, and the others that make clear distinctions between Democrats and Republicans. If we are in an increasingly polarized political environment, then we need to show that we will fight for our core beliefs. Since most people share our core beliefs (when stripped of political labels)clear, uncompromising articulation of those beliefs should draw a majority to our side of the political chasm.

I don't think they can do anything else but attack. I believe they will push the envelope on judicial nominations because the agreement of the 14 on the fillibuster really pissed them off. It is personal now. Additionally, Frist is still in full tantrum mode and wants revenge. It will be interesting to see what fractures develop between the business types and the fundies over the push.
