where can I find a candidate how will treat the gas tax the way I think it should be?
every month increase the tax by a nickel/gallon. Cap it so that the price of gas is never more than 50% tax. Put the money into various energy(non fossil) and transport(rail) projects needed for a country using less oil....more »

not sure i agree.
the soviets tried that and it didn't work out so well.
going in light and supporting the locals with small numbers of elite troops might well have been the best strategy.
it was throwing those troops into iraq that has been less successful (on both fronts).also, i suspect both wars were fought with one eye on iran. if iraq had gone smoothly, i think it is highly unlikely we would have stopped in iraq.
