Palin's recent "discussion" of the bailout with Katie Couric reminded me of the infamous Miss South Carolina's incoherence. Here is Jack Cafferty with a clip of Sarah. He is appropriately horrified by her.

Obama's play here should be to say no to McCain and that McCain's plan would only serve to politicize the debate. He needs to stand firm against McCain's political gimmickry. All surrogates should call it gimmickry and manipulation for political ends. It would be a huge mistake for Obama to give in to this and look like a wuss and that he was being manipulated by Country Club First McCain. Huge mistake!!

This is such an obvious ploy from McCain to grab the headlines and change the trajectory away from Obama. All it does is show that McCain is willing to politicize even this crisis to make himself look good, which he doesn't. I find it a really offensive scheme.I like the idea of changing the debate topic to the economy. I'm sure McCain would love that. Maybe Palin can pinch hit for him.

I sent the Obama campaign two potential ads today:
" In (year), Barack Obama supported a bill in the Illinois Legislature that helped children know when they were being inappropriately touched and encouraged them to report it. It was designed to protect small children from predators. (Quote two organizations who praised it.)
But now, John McCain, WILLING TO OUTRIGHT LIE TO WIN AN ELECTION, has twisted this story into a sex-drenched and perverse character smear. Recently in an interview, McCain said he could not define honor. Now we know why. McCain, WILLING TO SELL OUT HIS HONOR TO WIN AN ELECTION.
For the second ad:
Give several examples of the lies being told by McCain and Palin and the numerous quotes that refute them in the media, using words "false" misleading" dishonest" "lying", etc.
"IF THEY ARE WILLING TO LIE TO YOU SO EASILY NOW, WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE IF THEY RUN THE COUNTRY? HAVEN'T WE BEEN LIED TO ENOUGH? (picture of McCain and Bush)"

I think this is a brilliant strategy. I like the idea of a series of ads: Lie Number 1, Lie Number 2, etc. The people watching will be interested to see what the next installment is. I love it. I hope they hear you. There should be a video with the top 10 or 15 lies spread virally all over the internet and then ads covering one lie at a time. The biggest lie is the McCain man of integrity nonsense, but I suppose that one has to be implied by all the rest..
The announcer can even say: The Republicans are up to their old tricks again, lies and smears used to mislead the American people so they can cling to power.

On the Ed Schultz Show yesterday someone called in whose brother or friend or someone close works for the National Enquirer. He said the story is true but the media is afraid to touch it. If we keep pushing it online someone may take a look.

This is a must read article about Palin, a letter from a fellow Alaskan who gives her name and encourages us to Google her:

I am convinced that McCain chose Palin for three reasons: it would cement the far right; it might shave off some of Hillary's supporters, and most importantly, because he saw himself in her. I think it was this last part, the projection of his inner "maverick", that really pushed him into this impulsive move. The campaign was turning him into a Bush clone and an old man, and he wanted to reclaim this more exciting, popular part of himself, which he did to some extent. But the real narrative needs to be that McCain showed us that he is reckless and impulsive. It is now quite clear, he made this pick with almost no vetting. Moreover, it was incredibly irresponsible when you bring in the fact that she knows nothing about foreign policy and next to nothing about national economic issues. what happened to "country first"?
I also think that for a mother to put her pregnant, 17 year old into the national, and even the international, spotlight, does not say much for her "family values". This was a cruel and selfish thing to do to her daughter and may leave emotional scars on her for years. People should ask themselves if given the same circumstances - a once in a lifetime career opportunity that might seriously scar one of your children - what your choice would be.
