  • Although I must point out that Obama is clearly an uppity elitist what with using words and stuff rather than grunting and alternatively waving his dick and a big club around.

Obama flaks, here is your talking point: the elitist Washington media like to think of themselves as intellectuals that everyone else should listen to but they lack the language comprehension of a 5-year-old.

    Appeal to lefties: check.

  • I am actually not concerned about the telecom immunity myself, but there were two issues I wanted to point out:

    1. The company could be considered to be a government contractor but more importantly;

    2. The telecoms' customer privacy agreements, partly from state- and federal regulations, should stipulate the conditions under which private information may be given to government agencies. This implicitly bestows certain responsibilities to verify the legitimacy of requests for such information.

Anyway, my advice if the civil suit immunity remains and is not struck down by a judge as unconstitutionally stripping citizens' rights of redress is to just boycott those companies and see how criminal proceedings go.

  • Oh, give the news orgs a break. It is not as if we could expect fuckwits to understand English:

    Refine:

    1. To reduce to a fine, unmixed, or pure state; to free from impurities; to free from dross or alloy; to separate from extraneous matter; to purify; to defecate; as, to refine gold or silver; to refine iron; to refine wine or sugar.

    2. To purify from what is gross, coarse, vulgar, inelegant, low, and the like; to make elegant or exellent; to polish; as, to refine the manners, the language, the style, the taste, the intellect, or the moral feelings.

    Redefine:

1: give a new or different definition to; "She redefined his duties"
2: give a new or different definition of (a word)

Rather apropos on the MSM's part, actually.

  • It is not so much that you have to admit guilt to be pardoned--it is that you must have been found guilty of something before you can be pardoned.

  • Obama rarely does anything out of expediency, it seems. He probably genuinely feels that the immunity issue cannot be sensibly fought until the Congressional elections in November and therefore opts to work on the more important actual eavesdropping regulation. He might be right, he might be wrong, but he has repeatedly run circles around me intellectually, tactically and strategically so I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Curiously, it is as he described his position about a year ago, too.

  • Who cares anymore? Just leave it the fuck alone already. Please.

  • There is no excuse for half the country thinking the world was created 10 000 years ago. None.

The word choice in "believe in evolution" is not helping.

  • The immunity is far easier to argue against.

  • Actually, the courts would probably not let Congress give the immunity either :)

I am not too concerned about that aspect, honestly. There are other ways to remedy their crimes. I think the wiretapping law itself is the far more important piece.
