  • So much for bitching about Obama's decision to opt out of campaign financing. He is totally vindicated now. Do all of you folks who called him a hypocrite want to say I'm sorry?

  • First, the Cubans can drill for their own oil and they can legally drill in international waters.

Second, the Republican single minded demand that we open up our coasts for drilling implies that some oil drilling company or groups of oil drilling companies tied to the Republican party really wants to start drilling wells off Miami Beach. They figure they have to start before George leaves office or they will never have the field to themselves again. Any guesses which oil drilling company?

Third, somebody, either the Republican tied oil company or the Republican party, has done some focus group work and discovered that some focus group of Americans was upset about the Cubans drilling oil. Republicans are using the story over and over again because they want to take advantage of the high price of gas and the focus group results.

  • A couple of years ago my wife and a woman with the same name who lives in the same city were the victims of a credit report merger which occasionally happens when the credit reports of two different individuals are erroneously combined. Actually my wife was the victim. The merge helped the other lady whose credit was abysmal. My wife found out about the merge when she was turned down for a low limit department store credit card. Being turned down was embarrassing.

My wife is a bankruptcy paralegal and I am a lawyer who handles a fair number of consumer bankruptcies so we knew where to start and were able to clean up her credit, but the process took weeks.

My wife was not the victim of identity theft or anything sinister. The merge was a simple mistake on the part of one of the the credit reporting agencies.

Everyone, especially people who don't use credit cards and think they have good credit scores, should look at the reports maintained by the three principal agencies at least once a year.

  • Michael A, I have been wanting somebody to answer a simple question since Sunday. You seem to be just the fellow. A really smart guy who has time to watch cable news and all. I will put it in bold so you will be able to see it better.

EXPLAIN IN CLEAR SIMPLE ENGLISH WHAT CLARK SAID THAT ATTACKED MCCAIN'S SERVICE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

  • Obama comes off looking like a real live President of the United States politely answering a cub reporter's stupid question about some utterly insignificant issue. He is answering but the reporter is made to feel like a dolt.

  • "Inartful." Good he is backing away from the Burton comment. At the same time he is appearing presidential. He is also making McCain look petty. McCain's "base" has to be wondering why they are backing the old man.

  • Did anybody else watch Josh's collection of cable news crazy talk on this topic. Mostly Fox News. The other guys seem to be catching on as they listen to what was actually said. The Fox News people spent a lot of time shouting down their own democratic guests. By the way when did Bob Bechtel become a Republican anyway?
