  • You suggest that if the democrats want to win that two out of the three things they should run on are Iraq and corruption. Ok let’s tackle the first Iraq I am assuming that you are talking about running as an anti war party well let me tell you that that plan will simply not work as a message for a take over. Despite Americans disapproval of the Presidents handling of the war the way the war is going itself and whether it was worth it they are not open to such comments. I myself do not believe that it was worth all the lives lost going into Iraq but they also understand is that we are there we must finish the job and make sure they can really take care of our selves though the consequences would be no were near the same look at what happened in South Korea now communist and economically impoverished. By attacking the country we have brought more terrorists there this is supposedly the "plan" yeah right. People sit here debating whether the war is winable or not. Of course it is! America is now the military powerhouse of the world and the deserts and streets of Iraq as a fighting ground are no where near as bad as the jungles of Vietnam. The question is whether or not we have the resolve and determination to stick it out. We have seen the failure of anti war movements we have had in our past look back to 1980and George McGovern Regan end up winning in a land slide. That is not the solution. Now let’s look at the second one corruption. So many have tried to simply attack some of the leadership of the Republican party and maybe rightfully so. Then they say that this is an effective way to take over to sweep the country it is not. In order to win a solid democratic majority we must win on policies and ideas. That is how Newt and his fellow Republicans captured the house with what they made sound like solid plans and ideas for reform and betterment of the people. This is what we need as a party a coherent message that no matter what ideology you be progressive, liberal, moderate or even conservative you can say you believe in. This is the way to win by uniting not attacking and dividing. Read more of my ideas for the parties future and just on issues and politics at moderatedems.blogspot.com

  • I truly believe that Barck Obama is the real deal. He is relativaly young idealistic, optosmistic and one of the greatest orators the Democratic Party has had in modern ties. I believe that his appeal will one day drive him ot be the Democratic nominee for president 2008 is to early most likely it will be either 2012 or 2016 by then he will have throughly built up a profile large enough and outstanding enough to take to the American people and most likely win. I would be proud for him to be not just he first black predsident ever but  hopefully one of the best ever.

  • I disagree as a moderate that the message that Howard Dean is giving is what Democrats across the country should be selling. Saying things such as the Republican's never did an honest days work in their life come on who but political extremists really would whole heartedly believe that statement. Come on people this is not a winning message this is a divisive message and one that should not be embraced by the people you you mentioned both of which I have respect for. Governor Warner and Rep Harrold Ford JR are both giving a much better message in Red states than Me Dean. Mr Warner just critized the Democratic Party lack of an outreach to the moderates anfd I agree with him we must not just reach out to liberals and progressives and isolate moderates. No matter what you beileve the statergy should be top do this it can not include messages and attacks such as those launched by Mr Dean. Lets stop bashing and start uniting.
