  • I'm over thinking it. "Republican Jew" seems less jarring than "Jew Republican"... I'm talking about the sound of the phrase not the idiocy of the person in question.

  • "a Jew Republican" sounds a tad pejorative. It's your right to sound anyway you choose, but in the event that you'd rather sound less crass, I'd suggest "a Jew who is a Republican" or, perhaps, "a Jewish Republican".

    Just a suggestion.

As to the meaning of your statement. You are absolutely correct. Perhaps there is another non-PC term for Jews who are also Republicans. "Jewtard"? "Jewbicle"? I dunno, it generally so stupefying to think about it, I'm not sure which way to go.

  • Holy Crap. Franken should go to town on this. Not the actual video, for it is just hackery that is neither outrageous nor illegal. But, for the Coleman campaigns response:

"These left-wing, liberal, Al Franken bloggers are as goofy a bunch as I've ever seen," the campaign's spokesperson said. "They've spent the entire morning concocting a conspiracy theory, wasting valuable bandwidth on the Internet."

    Two things jump out:

    1) This ain't no "conspiracy theory". That lady (maybe it's his wife, I don't know. I don't care enough about Coleman to know what his wife looks like) is not being filmed at the same time and place as Coleman. For his campaign to continue to claim so, after getting their hand stuck in the cookie jar, is just openly dishonest.

    2) "Wasting valuable bandwidth" is a phrase that shows that they don't know jack about the internet. Bandwidth is not actually "valuable" until it becomes so huge that it interferes with other traffic. Text rumors are laughably insignificant when it comes to bandwidth. This video, itself, is the waste, though again, not a significant one. The fault for the existence of the video itself is Coleman's alone.

  • Surely he has a blue dress socked away somewhere to prove his story of oralizing the future Prez.

    What? no blue dress?

    Close but no cigar.

Oh wait, does he have a cigar? Cause maybe there's some DNA on that.

Does anyone else fondly remember the Clinton years as ones in which the lies and scandles were fun to think about and didn't lead to unmitigated death and destruction?

  • You do realize that the "King David Hotel" was a British military base at the time of an incident that you seem to be referring to, don't you?

As for making peace, that's a great idea. But I think you will find that both sides will remain too paranoid to do so as long as folks like yourself continue to distort the historical record.

Since both the Israelis and the Palestinians need to provide painful concessions, it seems most appropriate for their supporters to stop fanning the flames.

  • You are distorting that interview a whole bunch. A better reteeling (without putting in the effort to actually get the quotes) is this:

She was asked once and she answered clearly and simply that he is not.

She was immediately asked a second time by the same questioner the same question. She again answered quite clearly that he is not and then added words the effect of: As far as I know, there is no information to contradict what I'm telling you: that being he is not a Muslim.

Her "As far as I know" comment was spoken in exasperation to being asked the same question by the same questioner as if she was not telling him all that she knew. It was somewhat lawyerish, but it was in no was a wavering or a hedge calculated to instal doubt in the mind of the listeners.

Hillary has done plenty to complain about in this campaign, but this particular episode is not one of them.

  • I know a number of Republicans that like Joe Biden.

Of course, they live in Alaska where they like 'em a little on the crazy side. But seriously, some Republicans like him because he says what he is thinking and their impression is that Democrats, in general, are too calculating and engage in too much double speak.

Nor should the punditry. Seeing as how she has basically lost, isn't it time to let it go?

  • Hillary will come around eventually. I don't think it is her responsibility to rebuild unity at this time.

Political elections are brutal contest for real applicable power. By design there will be winners and losers. The losers lose. That's the beauty of it.

She appears to be heading towards the loser spot in this one and, as such, is not in possession of power, regardless of how bitter she may be. Only the endless chatter and criticism gives her any influence at this point.

Ignore her for a while. Give her time, let her lick her wounds as her the realization sinks in that she will not be the Democratic nominee. I, personally, see nothing in her past or present behavior that would indicate that she will not, by convention time, be able to graciously support Obama and urge every last one of her supporters to vote for him in November.
