I have no idea what Harold is on but Hillary is definitely in survival mode. That's like when your gas gage is below empty, there's money in your pocket, you're passing gas stations and rather than stopping to fill up, you're busy calculating how much gas you have left in your tank compared to how many miles you have to go before you're home. You don't stop. You decide to keep going. (Nevermimd whether your car will even start the next morning.)
You're in survival mode.

Coercive authority applied to a peoples might be compared to a phenomenon in the physical world. The more force applied to a mass to get it to move, the bigger it gets, or, to put it another way, the greater its resistance. (Apparently, a mass accelerated to the speed of light (impossible but who cares) would become infinite?)
Rather supports the best-use-a-carrot-rather-than-a-stick theory.

On May 1 Pelosi announced that Congress would not consider the proposal to suspend the gas tax over the summer.
Just exactly how did Rodham think that she, alone, could enact her proposal. Forget pandering to voters, think outright lying to voters - like tell them something you know perfectly well isn't going to happen.

Perhaps when, in her eyes, a country's primary might and clout are based on her military supremacy, she begins to, as Mark Twain said, see herself as a hammer for whom, then, every problem becomes a nail.
Every problem is not a nail thus every problem cannot be solved with a hammer.
The scenario is not unique in history. Nor is it unique that once powerful nations whose power lay in their military supremancy have not been brought up short and subsequently gone into decline.

So, Rodham's gas tax sop in order to go into effect has to be passed by Congress - even a Rodham can't bypass the Constitution - by Memorial Day. (Anybody want to take odds on that happening?) Does she know that? Do the American people know that? Apparently not.
Off the top of my head, I'd way the whole f_____ country has flipped its f_______ lid.

Most historians agree that throughout recorded history there have only been four nations that have experienced world-wide unprecedented economic prosperity - Spain, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the United States.
Once any nation, or nations, was in a position to challenge the economic supremacy of the European nation, she went into economic decline. The Netherlands and Great Britain survived relatively in tact but certainly far less prosperous. Spain didn't. The question is, will the United States recognize, accept and adjust to the end of her unprecedented economic prosperity, or will she go the way of Spain.

Interesting thing about conservatism and conservatives. As written, seldom practiced, conservatism preaches the merits of an invisible federal government with very little power. Of course, it is against human nature that those in government would or could ever abide by this precept.

But you have to admit that Hillary is getting better at pushing the new I-care-about-you-Hillary crap. She's getting quite adept at widening her eyes and palpitating.

At this stage of this nauseating campaign, promises, policies, you name it coming from any of the three candidates are either to garner votes or big money. McCain needs money. Hillary needs money. Obama needs votes. Each will pander accordingly.

Buyer beware. Over 750,000 families are driven to bankruptcy each year by illness and medical bills. Of these, three-quarters had insurance coverage when they fell ill, though with unaffordable co-payments, deductibles, and uncovered services.
Perhaps Mr. McCain should take a cold, hard look at the health insurance industry before he throws us lambs to the slaughter.
