  • Obama-Whitman 2008?

So I'm not normally a blogger here but while I was reading an article from May 12th about Ron Paul's supporters waging their rebellion, I noticed a reader comment that said the following: "According to AP, Obama camp has scheduled...more »

  • The more impressive you can make a speech look, the better, I suppose. Let the right wing bloggers bitch. After the "whitey tape" turned out to be a figment of Larry Johnson's imagination, they've been hurting for material. What can they say? "Oh look at me, I'm Obama, people actually want me to speak!" Consider the pressure a huge speech puts on McCain, who barely manages to read his teleprompter.

  • You really have to look at the political landscape and say, "Which candidate has the element of surprise on their side?" It's not the candidate that wrapped up the nomination and whose opponent conceded a month ago - it's the opponent who already conceded. The Republicans just wouldn't see a Clinton nomination coming (and neither would the Democrats), and that's what delegates should think about in Denver.

  • The WSJ ran an opinion piece by the director of a Muslim American group who says Obama should embrace his Muslim roots. Toward the middle he states, without irony:

If Mr. Obama simply said, "Yes, there are Muslims in my family, and while I am and always have been a Christian, I embrace my family's religious diversity," then surely the vast majority of Americans would move on to the real issues in his campaign.

    Hilarious.

  • The question of protest has a serious partisan divide -- Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to view it as a sign of patriotism.

To be a little fair to Republicans, it's possible this answer's results depends a bit on what party holds the White House. Also, the issue most associated with protest these days is probably the Iraq war.
