Your Pastor Sinks Worse Than My Pastor
Reaction in the Media to John McCain's relationship with Reverend Hagee has been almost diffident -- especially when you compare it to the grief Obama got for Jeremiah Wright. Nothing new here. Now finally McCain has had to "reject" Hagee,...more »

After Mississippi: GOP as Outcasts?
If the election in Mississippi is any indication of what Americans as a whole are thinking of the GOP, why does the GOP continue to dominate our airwaves and media? You'd think it was the Dems who were on the skids....more »

What, don't all of "us" own 10 houses, have an admiral for a daddy, have hundreds of millions in the bank, and wear $520 shoes?
Who cares about the fact that all his policies are aimed at helping millionaires, he's one of us.
The funniest thing I heard all day was a comment by one of the rightwingers infesting this site -- by way of justifying McCain's shoes versus Edwards' haircut: "Well, you know shoes last longer."
Have you ever heard anything so pathetic?

I dunno. The Obama responses are starting to sound repetitious. That'd be a good thing if what they were saying were compelling enough.
But they aren't.

I swear, they'll be burning documents all night at the White House on Jan. 19, 2009.

Super-abbreviated version of the findings:
"...were not substantiated by the intelligence."
"...were contradicted by available intelligence information."
"...did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products."
"...did not reflect the intelligence community’s uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.
"...was not substantiated by available intelligence information."
"The Intelligence Community did not confirm..."

Well, duh! This is just a step in the usual MSM process of taring all Democratic candidates -- and all liberals for that matter -- as 'elitist'.
It happens every cycle. You could grow up in a single-family household and get your way to the best schools in America thanks to scholarships, but still the rightwingers will call you an elitist.
It's all they can do since their agenda (as we've seen) promotes the rich and powerful while ours focuses on the poor and working class. Best then to ignore the policy issues and concentrate instead on fantasy items like hair-style, eating habits and sports activities.

Obama is doing this Illinois-style: hit 'em early and often, go for a knock-out even before the other side knows what hit 'em

Maybe they seem like "platitudes" to John McCain because John McCain has been in office too long. I mean, everyone gets burnt out.
It's not a characteristic I'd be looking for in someone running for president but who am I to tell the Republicans who their candidate should be?

Whaddaya mean? Why can't the kids work as well?
It'd be an act of charity on the part of Wal-Mart to offer this as an "educational" program K-12. How better to keep the family together than to have them all working on the Wal-Mart sales floor?

Victory has many fathers...
Personally it feels a whole lot better arguing over who's more to credit for doing this than the usual routine of pointing fingers.
It's a bit early for a victory lap (I personally don't feel we'll get the Senate) but while everyone's yapping at each other, it's important to appreciate the change of context.
