They're recruiting lawyers to join a voter protection program.
Here is an excerpt from an e-mail I received today. "In this election, attorneys, law students, and those with legal expertise will be part of the most comprehensive voter protection effort that the country has ever seen. Every eligible citizen who wants to vote will be able to -- and every vote will be counted."

Where did you meet? What was the turnout like? I live in Memphis and I am trying to get more involved.

As usual, great post, Scientific. I am also an Ivy League grad (Harvard college and law school) and continue to live with the burden of having to prove myself. I am tired of having to reassure some white people that I know what I am talking about and that I am not an angry, militant black woman. At work they've finally gotten comfortable with my braids. Lord help me if I decide to lock my hair. I am hopeful that more of the people who harbor suspicions about Michelle will find a way to see beyond their prejudices. I've found that getting my skeptical friends to focus on her story makes a difference -- especially, when I tell them that it is similar to my own.

Clinton's speech didn't change much for me. I started out an Obama supporter but had no particular ill feelings toward HRC. Now I have very little respect for her because I don't like the campaign she ran. Among the things that I did not like (and this is not the only thing), is the use of race-baiting code language by her husband, her campaign and her campaign surrogates. For me, one speech does not erase that shameful behavior. What her speech does for me is give me some hope that she will make a useful contribution to getting Barack elected in November. I am also relieved that I don't have to tiptoe around my hard-line feminist friends anymore.

I was donating that way too. I realized that even with small donations, I was going to break my budget.

I've been so angry for so long that I can't remember what drove me over the edge. I think it goes back to Iowa and the whole inevitability thing. The "35 years" of "experience." Or maybe in NH with the whole "it takes a president" thing. By the time, Bill started acting the fool in SC, I was disgusted with both of them and regretting the years I spent supporting them.

You're right. At the very least, HRC should apologize Michelle and her children. As a former first lady, she must know that there are nuts out there who would use any excuse to threaten a president and his/her family. As a candidate in this election process, she knows Barack was offered early secret service protection because of concerns about his safety. She must know that many people found her comment offensive and her half-assed apology inadequate. Apologizing to the Obama family is the right thing to do and may allow her to make a graceful exit. It's a shame that can't hide her desperation better.
