  • I don't see why Dems just don't tell it like "it is"...that McCain was quietly retired early from the Navy because other POWs testified that he was aiding & abetting the enemy while in custody...or that he crashed five Navy planes and the hushed-up evidence shows he was FUI on three of those times...or that he cheated on his wife with Barbra Bush as his price to get the Bush family backing for his White House run.

My Dad always said, "What if they gave a war and only one side came?". That's what's going on right now. The GOP is at war and the Dems have decided not to show up. Under this scenario the army that stays home forfeits the win.

  • The absolute WORST reason for a news source to say nothing is because it's afraid no one will believe them. That simply suggests that that news source is worried about its circulation more than its integrity.

  • For me, the tears flow because in the post-Bush race of BigMedia and its acolytes to justify their part in America's most tragic decade, we're already hearing BigMedia shed crocodile tears for national reconciliation and good ole American koom-bye-ya-ship.

Instead you and the rest of BigMedia should be digging for the truth, not for forgiveness. You should already be laying out the evidence for trials here at home and at The Hague because only when the entire world sees corrupt SOBs like Bush, Cheney & Rumsfeld on trial will it sleep better, hoping that maybe America's gone back on its medication.

  • That notion is so badly thought out to be laughable, if so many Obamites didn't believe it. The problem isn't Clinton: if she doesn't get the nomination virtually all her followers will still support Obama. The same can't be said of the Obamites: many WILL abandon Clinton out of spite and many others will simply feel disheartened and walk away from the election.

  • You folk just dont get it, do you? The only thing that's real in politics is the perception of the voters. Nothing else matters. How many votes will economists cast in November? Its not that Clinton's right and you're wrong. It's that the voters are drowning and no one else has bothered to toss them a lifeline.

It doesn't matter if all the economists that can fit on the head of a pin all sing their ethereal opinions. American workers and their families don't give a sh-t. They have a feeling that you and your colleagues are somehow associated with their shrinking paychecks and rising prices. After all, to these bitter, gun-toting, God-fearing folk you've been the ones working behind the scenes, managing things. YOU are perceived as incompetent elitists. By attacking Clinton's misguided proposal they perceive YOU to be making light of THEIR problems. Clinton's the only candidate who's gone out on a limb for THEM and they are rewarding her. The polls show that. Not one of them believes Clinton's idea is a good one but then no one else has stood up for them. Obama's offered lofty ideals with great style and gravitas but lofty ideals never pay for groceries, mortgages or gas. As sad as it is, Clinton's offered a solution. So, in good American tradition, THEY support the misguided woman with the heart of gold, who's offered her hand.

  • So, Obama helped push through a bill to help IL catch up to the rest of the country...THAT's your list of accomplishments.

How many jobs did Obama help bring to IL? Does the number come close to the tens of thousands Clinton brought just to upstate NY?

Blaming Clinton for losing the HealthCare battle? Has Obama ever fought for health care? No he hasn't. In fact voted against children's care programs in both the state and Senate. Meanwhile Clinton's continued the HC battle, while Obama & everyone else has pretty lame excuses why they're late to support the trend.

But let's get back to Obama's mercenary plans for Iraq. Or his Pay-As-You-Go universal HC plans. Or his continued support for NCLB. Why won't any BO supporters address those inane plans?

  • M.J.

Now I know what struck me as absolutely inane about your post: you actually believe he's one of the great leaders of our time. WHY??? Because he ran up an incredible number of friends on FaceBook? Isn't that a lot like saying JFK was a great man because he had a full head of hair? Or that Angelina Jolie should run for President because she's got drop-dead lips? Sheet! Maybe we should have American Idol choose the next president.

Gimme a break, why don't ya! The man has NO resume of accomplishments; only a great speaking voice that really doesn't say anything substantial. Think about it. What great leader would say that one answer to Iraq would be to take Defense spending and give it to State, to hire mercenaries to run Iraq? Or that the answer to universal health care is to let everyone that wants to buy a policy...buy one? Great leaders DO talk about Unity and Hope and the future but they also give people reason to believe they can make those things part of our lives.

The Wright fiasco doesn't prove that Obama's NOT that sort of a leader but it does give everyone one more reason to stop and reconsider if Obama's not just a used car salesman. That's what's happening in the polls and its creating panic amongst Obama's kool-aid crowd.

  • "Seeming tough" is what the voters are paying attention to and what the voters pay attention to is what decides the outcome of the November election. Nothing else. All wanna-be political wonks should learn more about "public perception" and how it can turn on you faster than the latest Zogby poll hits the street. Obviously, Team Obama needs time with the training wheels.

  • Does that mean Bush was correct to shelter Cheney, Brown and Gonzalez? I would've thought we'd want a President with the ability to set aside his/her relationships, for the good of all of us.
