  • in Nixonian Thought, there was the "hangout route", the limited hangout route, & the limited, modified hangout route.
It all had to do with how thick to plaster on the lies.
    like this bunch.
The nixon bunch (and the US itself)got away with it- the big it- Viet Nam, plus a plague of smaller "its". then the Reagan bunch all walked, now we have this. Im shocked.
if this bunch is allowed to walk away, we are just another banana republic......

  • growing up in NYC exposed me to WFB at an early age. Going to Viet Nam exposed me to the fact the man was a murderous fool. A genteel, stately, gracious one, but a murderous fool none the less.
Visit Andrew Sullivans blog, scroll down to 2/26, 1.40 PM for a vid clip of Noam Chomsky completely dismantling Buckley over Viet Nam on Buckleys own show.
WFB hasn't a CLUE as to what Noam is talking about......sorta like talking to a bushie....

  • Well, if the invaded Texas, too, I for one, will hail Florida & Texas new overlords.
But, seriously- this has been a informative & thoughtful thread. Thx to all.
Jesis, these guys leave out we overthrew a legit Gvt & installed a thug!

  • Englands brutal, sometimes genocidal 800 year occupation of Ireland deserved to be opposed. Individual citizens raised funds & supported the IRA.
Britain had its own AIPAC like influence over the US in that fight, for a while. But they were blunted by US citizens acting to influence the US governments stance.
I wonder how many years you'd get today for "abetting terrorism" after Bush & the laws passed since AIPAC & what itfronts for has become a branch of government?
I raised funds & supported the Salvadoreans & Nicaraguans against US backed thugs.
In niether cases, were the workings of the US State hyjacked to do the bidding of a foriegn power.
Can you see the difference, or are you gibbering about antisemitism?

  • Tell you what, now that I think about it......whenever some corrupt loon
puts a political party of a foriegn power, or a foriegn power, before US interests, lets by all means mention what crackpot bunch of god thugs they also swear fealty to.
    Just to be fair.

  • AIPAC is not Republican or Democratic. .....
It is hardline on Israel. That means it will support politicians of either party who share that view.

Ah. So US interests take a back seat.
    Glad thats cleared up.

  • Breath of fresh air, Bacon.
Ive yet to see mentioned: India in possession of atomic bombs & the means to deliver them.
A nation made of of people who by and large, believe in reincarnation, and believe people suffer because they need to learn something or atone. Therefore, helping the afflicted- ie, empathy- is frowned on by religeous custom.
Hmmm. No empathy, worship a thousand gods (we see what worshipping one can do) & believe they will be reborn.
And this nitwit in DC & his Believers think helpin that bunch build more & better bombs is a good idea?
No, Im supposed to tremble at the thought of goatherds in caves. jeez.

  • an interesting string of posts....i gotta say, those who boast of "invisible hands" and "free markets" & lazy fair capitalism crack me up.
The massive flood of desperate people crashing the border who, without intent to do so, drive wages to the basement , break unions, 7 drive up costs to taxpaying working people, & drive up rents, etc, are marveled at as "market forces".
Ignoring the corrupt oiligarchies which make it impossible for honest people to make a living in these countries.
Countries in which the "invisible hand" holds a whip, & a pistol, funded by US taxes extracted from the same working people who's wages & standards of living have taken a nose dive by the invasion.
What do you think a century of Central American wars were about?
And that oligarchic model is EXACTLY what these laughable "free market"-ers have in mind for the US.
Please. W couldnt hold a job pushing a broom. He is where he is, like Paris Hilton, because of inherited wealth, the aristocracy the Founder wanted to prevent.
Wandering far from the original post, but the fact the guy couldnt afford trade school tuition, & the apologists of a corrupt, oligarchy got me started......
So, does this make me a troll?
