  • Has anyone noticed that today there are three national polls where the spread between Obama and McCain is only around three points? I'm wondering whether the McCain smear lies are having an effect.

  • None of the criticism of Bill or moaning about the split is relevant. It's not a matter of right or wrong. At this point, the goal is party unity and basically trying to figure out what Obama needs to do to faciliate that. He's on the top. How can he bring the rest of the party together before the Democrats shoot their feet off once again and McCain becomes President?

  • The situation is close to dire. At this point I'm sorry I didn't invest my time and money in Hillary. What's going on in Chicago?

  • I think the larger issue here is that McCain has crept up in the polls and the race is a dead heat. I believe that come November, there will a percentage of the people who've said they're going to vote for Obama, who will get into the polling booth and vote McCain.

This may be August, but I find the trend and the stats very disturbing.

  • I see this as a trend that's disturbing. Obama limped his way to the end of the primary season. All of his big numbers months before that.

He can't afford the same pattern. Where are his campaign leaders? I wouldn't be surprised if McCain is up by even more in the next few days.

  • I've read here and there that Obama has not had the best relations with the press. That in general his campaign has not been particularly welcoming and that press has found him aloof. Has anyone else heard this and does anyone think that this might be contributing to the lopsided reporting?

  • HC is ahead in WV and Kentucky by huge margins. If these figures hold true, how many delegates and what number of actual votes is she likely to win? Could any of these wins change the tide?

  • I was around to work for McCarthy and McGovern. I was frustrated and sad then about their losses. But never have I felt the sense of despair I feel today about the future of the democratic party and the rift that the Clintons have caused. I supported Hillary for months. Then the Clinton's behavior became so egregious that I could no longer stomach even watching them. So it was easy to switch allegience to Obama. The sad part is, and many have expressed it here, the Clintons are ripping our party apart.

I feel like the proverbial driver who stops to stare at a car wreck. Only I'm getting to the point that I have to turn away. I can't bear it.

Posted at March 26, 2008 7:12 PM in response to Hillary: Obama Campaign Wants To "Shut This Race Down"

  • I agree with all of you. I find it painful to think that the Democratic Party is about to shoot itself in the face if Hillary becomes the nominee. Although Obama, once Edwards, is my favorite candidate, I will vote for any democrat who can win. Anecdotes as well as polls clearly point to Obama as the one who can do this. At this point I feel a vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain.

Somewhere I read 10 predictions by Business Week for 2008. One of them was that John McCain was going to be President. Take it with a grain of salt... or not.
