I'm wondering if the image was chosen by Rovian disciples to distract reporters who might otherwise be looking into John McCain's or Sarah Palin's record or remarks. It is an odd choice but it seems like there are much more important things to focus on right now.

How about this:

I was thinking the exact same thing - I thought it was a joke from the moment I read the headline.
Apparently being a POW is supposed to give you a free pass in life, or so the McCain campaign would have us believe.

Let me go ahead and clarify now - this is satire. Fiction. Hyperbole. That's what I do. I should have clarified this in the post but didn't think it was necessary. My apologies.

What's this guy's problem? What in the world is there to be bitter or frustrated about? We've got a great war going on right now in Iraq, the economy is growing by leaps and bounds, we live in complete peace-of-mind that we won't be attacked by terrorists, the environment is pristine, and our jobs are secure. What this country really needs is not Obama, but eight more years of Bush.

I have the spreadsheet too. Like you said it's been remarkably close in the other contests, but I think a five-point difference is optimistic for Obama. These polls showing him more or less tied remind me a lot of what happened in Ohio and New Hampshire. When the time came, Hillary did much better than expected. I expect Hillary to win by about 10 points. But maybe the Democrats will finally rally around their presumptive nominee the way the Republicans did in such an orderly fashion and give Obama a nomination-clinching victory in PA. Ah, the travails of the non-conformist party.
