It doesn't make sense. A administration proud of its stubborn stupidity, firing an incompetent? Why after almost eight years of promoting lackeys, why would they care now?
I think we need a congressional inquiry.Posted at January 9, 2008 2:01 PM in response to Islamofascist Nonsense

Much ado about nothing. We dont know the true emotion behind her "welling". It could be self pity . If that were true then thats human but weak.
I didn't think Edwards response was awful. Not nice but not awful. Both people are under great stress and likely sleep deprived. Chalk it up to that and let it go.Posted at January 7, 2008 3:27 PM in response to Hillary Teared--and Edwards Blinked

Years ago my first reaction to zionist colonization was they were sentencing themselves to centuries of violence. It's a simple choice with a tough fix. The choice- pander to the Israeli reactionaries at the cost of peace or rein them in.

Seems to me the Iraqi situation has a life of its own now. The "loose federal" scenario is the best we can hope for. The monumental and continual errors of this administration have eliminated many options.
But reality is you have a Kurdistan in the north that will play in name only with the south. You have a shell of a government that will play with the Sunnis on paper only and you have some deeply unhappy Sunnis that will not stop fighting until they feel they have an equitable deal. Aside from the outside elements, why not work towards what is possible?Tom, I like your statement on conviction politics. I agree.
As an aside, I'm spending Christmas in your District. My folks live in Louisa. If you have scheduled campaign stops in late December, I'd like to see you speak.Posted at November 1, 2007 8:29 AM in response to Why We Cannot Win the Iraq Debate

The bottom line is your response to Vampa originally was flamethrowing trollery.
Then you waste all this time with sophistry. Up yours.Posted at October 31, 2007 10:18 AM in response to I Think Paul Krugman Is Wrong...

Best of luck. My parents live in your district. Unfortunately for you, they suck on the teat of Newscorp for their political sustenance. But I'll put a word in just the same.

Congratulations to Mr.Gore. While I applaud his recognition, to me the slap to Bushs' face this represents is more important. And I suspect to the selecting committee it did too.

In fact, if you look at the "red/blue" electoral map, republicans have exploited racial/cultural fears in every state they have won.
Whether it is explicit like Willie Horton, or implicit like cutting fat from govt (fat being entitlements, entitlements being welfare). Whether it's Hispanics in the mountain states or blacks in the south and rust belt, the message is the same: elect us and we'll keep our foot on their necks. Dont elect us, and face the unknown.Posted at September 11, 2007 9:29 AM in response to Crank Politics

The worst legislation in the 21st century is the banking reform act. I feel rage everytime I think of the GOP holding the vote open while banking lobbyists tweaked the wording.
Its bad enough to stack the deck in favor of mega banks. On the front end they got interest rates opened , then minimzed their risk by making it virtually impossible to get relief from debt.
Anybody that reigns in these swine gets my vote.
Incidently, straight talking Bidens weak spot is the big banks. He quietly sells his vote to them anytime they ask.Posted at August 17, 2007 12:40 PM in response to Edwards Advances Credit Issues

There would be some irony there, wouldnt it? A groudswell states rights movement by progressives to counter balance an out of control, overspending right wing administration.
