  • One more question for Liz.

I accept that Liz Trotta has apologized, but I still need to understand something. . . So I have one more question Liz Trotta or her employers over at Fox News: What exactly if *supposed* to be funny about the...more »

  • Executive Branch Accountability

Since Elliot had his hand in the cookie jar (har har), I'm glad he got caught. And since we aren't Bushies, we aren't going to try to sweep our dirty laundry under the rug. I applaud the proper functioning of government, where...more »

  • Truth and Reconciliation

It is understandable that people at The Telcos would comply with a direct Presidential Order. Now that we know We The People have been lied to, it's easy to believe that the CEOs of The Telcos were lied to as...more »

  • Yes, retire from Congress and take a job with . . . drum-roll . . . Exxon, or Blackwater.

  • It IS childish, but I think it is also effective. Tasteless and effective in the same way gay-marriage ballot initiatives were effective in 2004.
In 04, if you weren't "for-bush" you were a gay-lover. In 08, these ads help drive home the point that if you are for the Republican you are a Bush-lover.

  • Wow. Reading this is actually believable.

Although the less charitable reading is not out of character for Fox News.

  • What is so funny?

Seriously, she said this was a joke, but I don't get what is supposed to be funny about imagining Barak Obama dead.
And I laugh at a lot of weird stuff.

In the interest of mutual understanding I think we should see if Liz or her friends at Fox News can explain what it is about killing a presidential candidate that is funny?

Only when the task is shutting down a vote count.

  • This evening, I was training my dogs with treats.

Part of the key is to keep them curious as to whether I'm going to give them a treat, and if so, then when.

Once they KNOW they WILL get a treat, then my leverage over them is gone.

I'm not sure what else I would do at this point, but David Addington is treating congress like I treat my dog. "I might give you something I know you want . . . . if you can do something for me. "

And Dick Cheney is loving it.

God, if these people don't rot in jail for what they are doing, then justice has been cheated.

  • I suppose we could just ask John McCain what he meant when he said it would be fine with him if American Troops were in Iraq for 100 years?

If he means 100 years of peace and prosperity in Iraq, then he needs to tell us if he believes the current situation is peaceful? And how soon does he believe it will become peaceful, and how does he intend to make it peaceful?

  • Attorneys, physicians, and various other professionals have an obligation to maintain confidentiality, EXCEPT when their client is threatening or likely to kill or injur another person.

In this case John Yoo was explicitly ask to provide an opinion that would declare his clients' assults on other humans legal.

How much more explict could it be that John Yoo was not providing analysis of law, but an excuse to break the law.

I don't think the "He was just following orders" argument even passes the laugh test. Because his job in the office of legal consul was to provide an interpretation of the law, not to provide excuses to break the law.

Posted at April 12, 2008 2:22 PM in response to Berkeley Law Dean: Yoo Was Not The Decider

  • Am I over-stating when I say that the Dean's defense of John Yoo is that he's is only the embodiment of a "Little Eichman".

I mean, really, the Dean's defense seems to be that John Yoo isn't the one who decided that America should go into the business of torture. John Yoo is only a cog in the machine when he provides a poorly argued legal defense of the other cogs so they can safely proceed with torture.

I haven't been put in the unfortunate position of deciding whether or not I will be a cog in the destruction of a once-great-nation, although I would like to think I would put my integrity ahead of convenience and expediency.

The Dean, quite clearly, has failed that test.

  • duh.

Imagine the Russians, or the Chinese, or anyone else invaded these United States in order to dispose of GW, and they took up residence in your neighborhood.
Would the good folks at the NRA hide there guns, and run away, or would they fight back.

And when the Soviet army came looking for your neighbor who shot one of their comrades, would you tell the Soviets where your neighbor was? And when they took away your son, what would you do?

Anything you could to deliver pain to the Soviet invaders.

    Duh.

George W Bush and Dick Cheney are stupid beyond comprehension. Notwithstanding pleas from this Administration of "who could have imagined. . . ." Every single one of us other than the dimwhits in charge could have imagined.
