From race-based to poverty-based affirmative action
Following Jim Webb's recent insightful and highly relevant comments about Appalachia and racial sentiments he really should be considered the top-tier VP candidate, as long as he passes a vetting process for skeletons. Webb argues very well that 1. There...more »

Jim Webb
How great a pick would Jim Webb be for Obama's VP? Let us count the ways:1. Brings a military background with gravitas on Iraq.2. A Scot-Irish of Appalachian roots. 3. A swing-state office holder.4. A former Republican (praised by Reagan when he...more »

New Gallup via USA Today:
When it comes to diplomacy, Gallup says Americans agree with Democrat Barack Obama's approach: Large majorities of Democrats and independents, and even half of Republicans, believe the president of the United States should meet with the leaders of countries that are considered enemies of the United States. Overall, 67% of Americans say this kind of diplomacy is a good idea.

It was recently reported somewhere that - as a possible explanation for Hillary's extreme resistance to letting this go - Bill Clinton is privately convinced that the Democratic nominee whoever is all but guaranteed (a cakewalk to) the White House this year because of the damage to the Republican brand.
Whatever the truth of this claim about the Clintons' private theories, it does explain why they will fight tooth, nail, and all sorts of ugly for this 'free pass' back to the White House.

It may be tiring for the regulars here to see yet another outrage-at-Hillary post, but when she or her surrogates come out each day with some new signal that they may go further, e.g. fight to the convention floor, etc. then perhaps the level of boil from the netroots needs to reach an even hotter outrage temperature for the DNC to take a leadership role.

gotalife BECOMES THE KOOL-AID DRINKER HE SO DESPISES -
To BELIEVE that Bill WAS NOT THE ONE who started the race-card playing accusations with his 'well, Jesse (the token black) won here too' and to BELIEVE that actually Bill was THE VICTIM...
TO BELIEVE THIS ONE HAS TO BE DEEPLY DRUNK WITH CLINTON KOOL-AID!
gotalife - continue to stand up for your candidate, but AT LEAST BE INTELLECTUALLY HONEST.

gotalife - if you don't think when Bill said "well, Jesse Jackson won here too" did not mean 'he's just the token black candidate this year, can't really win', then you've got to be an utter moron.
