  • On a recent radio show, conservative Tony Blankley and liberal blogger Arianna both came to the same opinion that they had thought Obama's argument for timetables on troops withdrawals could be vindicated by the recent statements by al-Maliki's govt concerning U.S. timetables. Don't think I couldn't more strongly disagree. Had Obama expressed what Arianna and Tony suggested and then gone over there only to find out it may not all seem what is being reported and analyzed by the pundits, it best to keep arms length on that one.... It would seem wise of Obama not to get ahead on the issue until he's had the chance to go over there, speak Petraeus et al. I surmise Obama's fundamental position won't change after the visit; however, as he says, he wants to approach the troop withdrawals, measured, nuanced, and carefully getting out as we carelessly got in.... (but hopefully, Obama does not enlist Sen Hagel as V.P. If Obama does, can we then accuse the Democrats of being appeasers to the Republicans)....

  • I agree, the focus needs to be Sen McCain and his 3rd term, should he be elected. The ACLU are already challenging it in the courts, if makes you feel any better... but let's face the reality on FISA and the other high profile issues being played out between McCain and Obama; it's about winning the White House; so you may want to ask yourself who would you rather have setting the agenda and policies on January 20, 2009? And for "refining" Obama's Iraq policy; it may take 18 to 22 months to pull out the combat brigades instead of the political speech of 16 months; a lot may depend on after his trip this summer...

  • Obama has to move to the Center in his political rhetoric so he doesn't end up like Karen Silkwood and other corporate whistle blowers. McCain doesn't have to do too much because the MSM is doing it for him. As long as Obama doesn't say anything "progressive", the MSM leaves him alone. (the most recent example was the flap over Gen Wesley Clark's comments).

  • The MSM is 'sold' on McCain war time hero credentials so that's why Obama had to "agree" with McCain and the MSM.

Let's face it, the MSM do NOT like these two things....1) Liberalism, and Obama being Black/ the fight is also about perceptions. The Obama campaign are smart enough to understand to the point that 'swift boating' is now a verb.

  • The MSM is 'sold' on McCain war time hero credentials so that's why Obama had to "agree" with McCain and the MSM.

Anything to put Obama on the defense and negative light is more more than understood by Obama and his campaign. During (and after) the primaries between Obama and Clinton, Clinton could and do almost no wrong while any gaffes, blunders, or missteps by Obama, was/is front page news, and since the MSM can't directly smear Obama, they instead try and use his gaffes and mistakes to discredit him (a good example was the incident with those two head scarf Muselim women).
