If Obama becomes president, that means anyone can. If some old white guy becomes president, that's nothing new. Martin Luther King, Jr. persuaded Nichelle Nichols not to quit Star Trek because she was a role model for women and black children. He said, "Once that door is opened by someone, no one else can close it again."
Let's open that door. Let's elect Obama president!

He's not Bush and Bush has set the bar so low that all you have to do is speak in coherent sentences. It is so refreshing to listen to someone who is articulate.

Race relations is and has been an ongoing problem in the US for a very long time. McCain will do absolutely nothing to improve race relations. With an Obama presidency some relations will worsen and some will improve, but the important thing is it will be front and center every time we see him on television.
I heard Nichelle Nichols, Uhuru, from Star Trek speak recently. She was going to quit the show after one season. She loved doing musical theater. She had a chance encounter with Martin Luther King, Jr. He told her was a big fan of hers. She made an offhand remark that she was leaving the show. He told her she couldn't quit. It was important for people to see black people how they see themselves just doing a job like anyone else. Needless to say she didn't quit.
In the long run an Obama presidency will help race relations, but it could be and most likely will be turbulent while he is president.

I think that might be more embarrassing than the French loving Jerry Lewis.
I look forward to Obama saying "I am a jelly donut" just like JFK did.

If these people can't remember critical events, then they should be given medical exams and if a memory loss is indicated then given a medical discharge. Because they clearly can't be counted on to perform their duty to the best of their ability.

Indeed. Gramm needed to stick around longer so the American people could learn the full extent of his monstrosity. He helped deregulate the banking industry, the energy trading industry (Enron), he helped to tighten bankruptcy laws, and he even played an additional hand in helping to create the mortgage bubble.
I didn't think there any more big bad evil Republicans hanging around, but he ranks right up there with Tom Delay, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and George Bush.

Phil Gramm is pure evil. He helped pass laws that allowed Enron to rape California, then his wife got a nice cushy job on Enron's board. Then he helped pass legislation that allowed predatory lending and to make it harder for people to file for bankruptcy. He was a lobbyist for UBS while being McCain's adviser, though he recently 'resigned' from UBS. He may look like a kindly old grandfather, but evil often has a pleasant face. Except for Dick Cheney.

McCain is still trying to figure out what that thing next to his TV that keeps blinking 12:00. He thought it was one of them newfangled digital clocks, but he pressed a button on it, and it spit out a rectangular looking object.
