Tim Russert was a great journalist, maybe not your cup of tea but for many so called low information voters who don't spend every waking moment on the blogs digesting every word a politician has said. On sunday mornings you could watch him ask the people about their contradictions and alot of the times it would become abundantly clear whether their change of heart came because they really have changed their mind or if it was political convience. As I watch all the people who have spoke about his death you can see how many lives he has touched and how many people truly respected him. I don't think his questions on NAFTA during the Cleveland debate where superficial nor did the people of Ohio, you may not appreciate his questioning Obama on the Rev. Wright situation but I look at it as he gave Sen.Obama a chance to answer the situation in more than a thirty second soundbite. What he did to David Duke was masterful, Ross Perot didn't know what hit him, when you came on Meet the Press you better have known your stuff because if you didn'r you where about to be exposed. I enjoyed his show I enjoyed his commentary on election nights and my heart goes out to his family and his coworkers. If you disagree with this perhaps you should your opinion for a later date.

Alot of people are remembering when he pronounced sen.Obama the democratic nominee after the Ind. and N.C. primaries, I remember when sen. Obama became the presumptive nominee and Tim Russert said with true excitement and maybe even a bit of pride in his voice that he would love to be a teacher in an inner city school the next day. That one statement showed what he thought this election meant for this country.

just can't help thinking how excited he seemed about this year's election. He really loved politics and it showed.

again you are missing the point there are some people in this world myself included that have short term financial crisis. These are the people these places are set up to help, they are not meant for long term loans and if you have borrowed more than you can afford I guess that is your fault and not the companies. It's great if you have never found yourself in the situation that i described earlier but many of us are not as fortunate, but again if you use it the way it is set up than you are borrowing a hundred and paying back one hundred fifteen, not four hundred, the interest rate you quote is based on a year but it only applies for the two weeks of theloan. About a year ago my friend had borrowed five hundred and could not pay back the five hundred seventy five when it was time they allowed her to make biweekly payments until she paid the loan and they never charged more than the original seventy five dollar fee. Most of these companies are not the evil empire you assume they provide a service and they explain all of it up front including the fine print and the interest rates are posted prominently, they are indeed some people who get in trouble with these loans but they are the same ones who pay overdraft fees and minimum payments on their credit cards. If you are bad with your money then no amount af legislation is going to help you, but I re4peat there have been times when payday loas have been a lifesaver to me and others I know and I am upset that the Gov. has decided he knows how to handle peoples own personal finances better than they do. Perhaps he should put that much effort into the education crisis we are facing in this state or the fact that one company after another is closing it's doors. I voted for him on his promise to fix on funding education and healthcare in this state I'm still waiting.

I live in the world that sometimes and more often than not my paycheck as it is allows for no emergencies. Two weeks ago the brakes on my used car went out and I had no choice but to repair it. The cost was three hundred fifty dollars I did not have. So when I found myself unable to buy milk or gas this week because of the unforseen expense I went to sai payday loan establishment and was told I could not borrow the hundred dollars i needed because of the bill that Gov. Strickland signed. The problem with this bill is people are looking at the annual interest and saying OMG that is legal loansharking. The reality is these are not meant to be long term loans, they are short term, and if you use it the responsibly, then you pay exactly fifteen dollars on every hundred borrowed, that means that if I had been able to borrow the hundred right now then in two weeeks when I would have been caught up from the unexpected expense of the car repair, I could have paid back one hundred fifteen and been done. If I couldn't afford that then I could have continued until I got to a point where I could. These loans are meant to help people in the short term and for some have meant the difference from having no heat in the winter to buying groceries. It is not a perfect system but there has to be some personal responsibility and not just blaming the company. Many of these places because of the setup for short term loans simply cannot operate at the twentyeight percent intersest and will have to close their doors, that will be another six thousand unemployed people to add to our ranks.

I was thinking about this after her speech last night, isn't it a fact that if healthcare is truly what she wants to sink her teeth into that the senate with the backing of an Obama administration the best place for her to fight for this particular issue?

I was just thinking the same thing. My grandfather on my mothers side lived to be 94 years old, and was hunting and doing his own thing up until the week before he died. On the other hand we have already buried three of his seven sons before they reached 75. they all died of massive heart attacks without warning at the ages of 65, 69, and 71. longevity of parent is not an indicator of ones own life expectancy. That said watching Mccain's speech last night all I could think was, this is who the republicans want to represent our country for the next 4 to 8 years? Really? This is all you have? And whoever decided that putting Obama and McCain inn the same room at the townn hall meeting really ought to get paid by the Obama campaign. I can't wait for that visual.

I'm sorry I would love to give her the benefit of the doubt here and say she was just referring to campaigns that went into June. Unfortunately there are a few problems with this defense, the first being that the primary season that ended with Bill winning the nomination started later than this one so if you comparing actual time instead of just the name of the months if by the standards of this primary battle bill wouldn't have secured the nomination until august. Second if all she wanted to do was refer to RFK winning the California primary in June then that is what she should have said, I'm pretty sure everyone knows how that ended without her mentioning it. It is true that something bad could happen at anytime to anyone of the candidates but to use that as a reason for staying in the race is absurd. She has run out of time money and now it appears decency, as a woman I am appalled at the thought that she presumes to speak for me, she does not, now or anytime in the future.
