Is this another signal to HRC that he does not think that she (HRC) is as invaluable to his campaign as she thinks she is? Not that Ms. Edwards is a bad pick - I think she is a great one. But it is also a cause that Hillary championed but does not, at least at this point in time, include Hillary.

Which is the #1 reason that she should not be VP. Her and Bill would be in the news 24/7 leaving the POTUS a few seconds at the end of each news cycle pretty much as an afterthought.

Agreed. This panic over white middle class voters is a smoke screen. As are all polls while Hillary persists in dragging out her campaign. While I am not naive enough to believe that all Dem's in KY and WV and the over 60 while female vote will unite behind Obama, the fact is that enough will, and with his core constituency, he will be fine in Nov.
It would be nice to have all, and all are invited, but it isn't going to happen. Race aside, the 2nd Amendment and pro-life are big issues for that demographic - I don't even fit it, but I still am somewhat concerned about both. For me, though, I am willing to chance those issues with the hope that America can stop being the laughing stock of the world and that we can get SOMETHING done re: healthcare and education.

As was pointed out last night by one pundit, HRC does wield some power right now - 17m votes is nothing to sneeze at. Power to negotiate whatever it is that she thinks she wants in lieu of the Nomination, be it VP, Reid's spot, or Cabinet slot. But there is a limited window of opportunity and everyone, including the SD's know it. So part of the problem is, if one is sympathetic to the Clinton's, but plan to support Obama because he will win, then when do you commit?! Do it too early and it effectively slams the window shut on HRC's opportunity so the SD would chop HRC off at the knees; do it too late and they still garner the wrath of the Clinton's but gain zero cred from the new BMOC.
It seems that the SD's are taking Hillary at her word that she will support the Nominee, regardless of who HE may be, once the primaries have all been held.
And Barack just has to let her have her fun for a couple more weeks to have a chance at capturing her supporters (minus the Appalachian bigot demographic) with or without her help.

God, I hope that is just a nasty rumor. Frankly, I want the Clinton's lap dogs around even less than I want them around.
Surely Obama has his own crew to place so all the seats on the bus are hopefully full.
Sorry, Lanny. Keep whining about how CNN dissed you mid-spin....

Agreed. HRC brings nothing to the table as VP except the Clinton baggage, past and present.
Barack would be better served with one of several others. It would be helpful if she did campaign for him, though, to shore up the senior and lower middle class white vote.
The only problem with that, though, is if he wins the GE in a photo finish, she will claim victory for him.

If "popular vote" were a metric of any value no state would hold a caucus.
There is one measure for determining the nominee - delegates. Everything else whether it be "big states", "popular vote", "middle class white vote", etc, is simply the political equivalent of tracking rushing yards, passing yards, yards per play, etc in a football game of which your team was on the low end of the final score. Points on the board is all that counts in football; delegates in the Dem Nominee race. All else is fodder for chatter over a beer.
