Alaskan Independence is not a fringe movement up here. Maybe it is in terms of actual membership - but it does seem to folks up here that they get less out of being part of the US than they (as a resource rich territory) give to the US.

The one thing that most strongly (to me) supports the idea that (despite all the fishy-ness) the kid is the Governors...
Could any sane person with even the LIGHTEST vetting for VP not come forward when they HAD to ASK 'Is there anything you need to tell us?'
Generally I hate stories like this (which does oddly have more supporting circumstantial crap than usual for internet rumors) - but even if she had 'pulled off' a switcheroo in AK, could she really believe it would work at this level? I don't think so, someone would inevitably talk.
Anyway, I guess this is the left's revenge for all those people the Clinton's were supposed to have killed.

It's not a story because McCain's generation (and most Americans in their 50s+) were misled when Soc Sec was initially put forward. They were CONSCIOUSLY led to believe that it was YOUR money From YOUR paycheck going into a savings account that would later fund YOUR Pension/Soc Sec check.
It's sad that a US senator doesn't know this and doesn't know any better - but that's how the program was consciously misrepresented to people.

Actually, the idea that they are drilling on land or in shallow coastal waters would be even more effective for the scare tactic she is trying than the technically (apparently) false statement that they are drilling off shore. Not great to point out that she's wrong if the right answer reinforces her point (such as it is).

This doesn't strike me at all as 'interventionist' in the sense the author fears. It looks more like a more formalized effort to address international crises the way Bush SR and Clinton quasi-tried to do.
Crises will happen - the US cannot simply 'bring the troops home' and ignore the rest of the world. While some individuals may have principled stands against the use of military force, no responsible government leader can. There are times when a military response is necessary and working WITH the democracies of the world makes it likely that those times will be fewer than otherwise.
Perhaps reassurances to China and Russia that the goals or efforts are not likely to undermine their security should be more forthcoming... but this is not indicative of an interventionist military policy anything like what we have been experiencing.

Not sure how to get this thing out there... but a strange Subliminal Fox promotion of John McCain is noted on a website and I think it needs to get more airplay... so if someone reads this and knows how to PROPERLY promote it please do so... at the blog below there is the story/video of a subliminal push for John McCain on a local (and I would guess given what "Outfoxed" showed us, multiple local venues) fox news affiliate's news graphic.

I believe Feith is the author of the "all animals are dogs based logic" behind the "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" misapplication of 'logic'.
Hence, I believe Doug Feith is the purple elephant sticking out of Rumsfeld's ass - you can't tell me he's not since the absence of evidence, is not the evidence of absence.

Sadly or not Mikeyleigh, that list just means that Bob Casey is probably supported by and supports the same issues as many blue collar Democrats - especially in PA.

Oh, and lets not forget... I'm not aware of too many Christian (or other) churches that endorse pre- or extra-marital sex. So, clearly MANY Americans are clearly capable of ignoring things they don't want to read or hear from their church.

Lets get real cynical for a minute...
Lets suppose that Barack did not join a church because he had been 'unchurched' as a youth and was interacting with Rev. Wright during his 'searching phase' while engaged in community organizing and activism...Maybe, just maybe, he joined a large prominent church preaching the social gospel (ie. really involved in helping out the community) with an eye to future LOCAL political ambitions and knew this would be 'the place' to be in the community he was investing in.
Even then, big FRIGGIN deal.
I tried to choose churches based on the availability of cute single men (didn't work, still trying)
I know many soccer families who choose churches based on the day care and social networking... and they get reminded often how the non-Christians are going to hell.
And I know alot of mega metro church members go for reasons other than what the pastor is or isn't saying. At least we know (from Barack's language and words) that the scary things preached out of Trinity weren't going to work there way into frightening public policy.
I'd rather have a vicious anti-white preacher whose words aren't changing the candidate's views on race, than have a candidate whose beliefs in the end times make apocalypses a good thing.
