The Strange History Of John McCain's Economic Theories
According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, John McCain's recently released tax plan is very regressive "even compared with a system in which the 2001-06 tax cuts are made permanent." It provides "relatively little tax relief to those at the...more »

The perfect VP for Obama
After weeks of reading breathless discussions and confident prognoses concerning Obama's running mate, I have concluded that I'm smart, and everyone else is stupid. The obvious choice is right in front of us, but most people have trouble seeing what's...more »

Live From San Francisco - She Will Be Making No Decisions Tonight
I'm here in San Francisco at Club Waziema, everyone's favorite Ethiopian club, with California Page, Oakviolin, and a bunch of other non-TPMers. I made two beer bets tonight:1) Hillary would not concede2) Hillary would not mention HillaryClinton.com (an implicit concession)Looks...more »

Importance of the Popular Vote on Legitimacy
I posted this commentary on Greg Sargent's thread about Hendrik Hertzberg's analysis of the popular vote but felt that it merited it's own thread...There has been much debate about the popular vote over the past couple of months. The vote...more »

How the G.O.P. Got Its Groove Back

Clinton's Real Electability Powerpoint
This is rather alarming. Apparently, the "electability" powerpoint that Clinton sent out to House Dems was a decoy. Select uncommitted superdelegates obtained a very different pointpoint. I've managed to obtain a leaked copy and posted it here. Please check it...more »

The End Has Begun
A couple of days ago, I argued that after Tuesday, the race would essentially be over because there would no longer be a way for Clinton to win the popular vote, her only remaining plausible argument for superdelegates to vote...more »

The Beginning of the End (Or How I Learned To Love The Math)
I've declared repeatedly since the PA primary that this race is over soon after May 6th. Despite the high anxiety of Obama supporters and all the talk of Clinton momentum, I stand by this projection. My reason for saying so...more »

Pseudo apology. I'm not worried about being banned--that would give me some street cred. But I recognize and share TPM's interest in keeping the content quality high. In fact, this meta-post is my own snarky attempt at quality control. But it honestly isn't a high-quality post. One of those posts where I debated whether to subject the world to it and then just said, fuck it.

Hi Lila. Welcome to the cafe. Don't blame Frog Leg. I started it. He/she is just running with the joke.
This is one of those threads which, while not pointless, is not very serious in purpose. People use threads like this for friendly banter, in contrast to the combative debate threads. IMO, such threads were helpful in tamping down some of the anger during the primary season, which in turn promoted civility in the debate threads, though of course there is a danger of having too many of these banter threads because they're only interesting to cafe regulars.
In any case, I hope that the new editorial policy allows for threads like this one (in moderation). Though I had a point to make, it's certainly not my most thoughtful post. I'll write one with more content when I have more time. And if Frog Leg hits that post with a FISAFISAFISA, I encourage you to ban him or her for eternity.
Also, please ban Yoda Urbinato. He's a troll.

My reading comprehension is delayed. I didn't realize what Frog Leg was saying until the third one. If I could take back the all three, I would.
