Yeah, I knew this was gonna be a problem for McCain. When he and Palin stand next to each other, she looks like his daughter helping him totter off to the bathroom.

Instead of rejecting good ideas because we didn't think of them first, let's use the best ideas from both sides. Instead of fighting over who gets the credit, let's try sharing it.
Awfully damn easy to say when you have no ideas of your own to take credit for.

It's not as if Obama has been gaming the issue.
And that is what is so odd about this. The war is a winning issue for Obama because his opposition to it meshes well with the country's current distaste for the war. The war has recently taken a back seat in the minds of many Americans because of the more immediate economic concerns, a development that worked in favor of both McCain and Clinton because they are both wedded to it (to differing degrees). Why McCain wants to bring it back to the forefront, when he ought to be thrilled to have it in the background, is beyond me.

Undoubtedly, the racial slurs will fly. I wonder how black Republicans, particularly prominent folks like Colin Powell, will react? The comments that Rice made a few weeks ago about race were intriguing, and suggest to me that it might be possible for Obama to pull some of those folks to his defense.

The only thing that bothers me is that the talking heads will roll with that, even the ones that clearly know it's BS. When this election is all over, the one true loser (other than the public) will be the reputations of so many of these MSM talking heads, analysts and pundits. Their crass eagerness to continue to stir this pot long after it has lost its boil really has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Hmph, I think Obama missed an opportunity at the end. He was trying to be gracious, and forgot that Clinton doesn't have any problem with going for the jugular. He spent his time talking about how qualified she is, and then she spent her time doing the same. The question she has to answer, by the way, is how she can bring about change when she is such a polarizing figure. Obama might be, in her view, a lightweight, but she is a lightning rod.

"...in her rejoinder"?!? She practically tripped over herself trying to jump in so she could puff herself and try to attack Obama at the same time. And all over semantics. It was a cheap shot, and desperate overreaching.
