  • Joe Traitorman should be publicly humiliated and excoriated by the Dems. Hell, this Dem party can't even get tough on their own rotten, traitorous, lying, laughing, sneering member as he continues to poison dems while helping repubs in everyway possible. Hell the guy has been eschewing his own duties to run around holding mcPOW's coat-tails and giving him advice. So, one of our Senior Dem Senators is playing footman for the republican candidate and their smear machines....and our Senate Leader is disappointed? If anyone deserved a public slapping and 20 days in the stocks it is Lieberman. The closest anyone has come to it is Obama dragging the basset hound/weasel hybrid off to a corner of the senate. I think B H O would volunteer to carry out the slapping part of the punishment.

  • Funny how these types of RightWing FudgeNuts love the symbolism of the Eagle, The Polar Bear, The Wolf etc....
But they gladly kill those critters off everyday of their lives with their businesses and policies.

How hypocritical. Work to have Polar Bears extinguished by Big Oil and Fishing interests, but use the logo and symbol of the fabulous, mighty bear on your secesh letterhead.

  • Folks,
let's be honest. No matter WHAT we do, it backfires. That is what the Corporate Media is there for. There is no ad or response that is going to go over like we want it to. Crafting a message and hoping that it comes out the other end of the Media Megaphone the way we want is lunacy.

Insanity....doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

We are in a horrible game of Telephone where all the participants are SURE to screw up the message. Not just accidental or incremental....all the actors in this game are SWORN and PAID to misinterpret our message.

I am all for attacking, but it is a GIVEN that our message will be twisted and there will be blowback. McPOW has no message except ridicule and attack B H O. Of course they will cry foul and smear B H O no matter what is coming out of his mouth.

So we have to think of other ways. Billboards. Bumper Stickers, public action, public rallies. The only thing the Corp Media cannot spin or twist is live footage of an ongoing event. And even then, they can do the ultimate....Not Cover It and it may as well never happened. But if it get's airtime, they cannot photoshop on the fly. They can pick and spin and twist and change the after-coverage, but they cannot alter a public event that is witnessed.

I don't have many good ideas, but I can at least be a bellweather. By my fairly accurate and scientific calculations we have NEVER got a decent break from the media, and the repubs get endless do-overs, and a 24.7 media blitz that covers for them, and invents for them, and swiftboats for them.
Hoping the Corp Media will be a delivery system for anything Left is a cruel, empty hope.

  • Great. Doesn't exactly restore my faith in humanity (or the RightWing of humanity)but it is a start. I asked for a list, knowing that it will be a beggarly list no matter how much real acts of decency we can find...it won't be much.

Plus, this was 18 long years ago. A total guess on my part, informed by rightwingery, says they have done anything possible to tear it down since.

Do you now, DrPangloss, has the act been attacked or watered down since? Were the Elder Chimp's best moments reversed once they got the chance?

  • As I have noted on these pages before...

You cannot win anything with the national corporate media. You are playing on their turf, using their equipment, and they control your message the moment it leaves your mouth.

So at least I agree with them not trying to win this in the national media. The corporate media is a one way republican street. We have to come up with other ways to change the narrative and attack and make it hard for the media to spin. You know they will, we need to (when using the national media) to make sure the messages are too strong for them to water it down or pick it to shreds. We need other NON-advertising ways of wrenching the cameras and the narratives away from the corporate spin shacks.

Posted at August 26, 2008 4:12 PM in response to Obama Campaign Developing Aggressive But Low-Key Counterattack To Swift-Boating

  • Well, I cannot blame the Dems for not knowing WHAT TO DO. Everything for the last 30 years or more, has blown up in their face. Why? Because the media has favored the Corporate Party at every turn.
Yes, we moved from a golden age of journalism into the corporate media world. Yes, for a decade or so, there were good journalists even in bad places. Wholesale marketing of the news, and total corporate filtering did not occur like a light being turned on. It has been gradual.

I do blame the Dems for not finding new ways to control the narrative, but I cannot blame them for being gun shy. Everything they have done in the last decades has been twisted and turned. Think about that, every single honorable, war-tested, highly moral candidate we have run has been turned into some weak-kneed appeaser betrayer...in a matter of a few months. 30 or 40 year careers reduced to rubble, even while they ran decent campaigns and didn't make terrible mistakes. We look back and call some of these things huge blunders, but if you look more carefully it was engineered by the CorpMedia and morphed into huge cultural buffoonery. These weren't campaign implosions, they were PERCEIVED AS campaign implosions....relentlessly reinforced by the CorpMedia mantras and broadcast 24/7.

  • The very guy who ran swiftboat ads and shows owns PAX networks...refused to run a Dem video but ran and re-ran anti Dem miniseries and videos and ads.

That is just one example. ABC refused to run the Kerry video but ran a 9-11 series put out by Rush LimpBows friend.
