I think that the most proactive thing any of us can do at this point is this:
Write the Obama campaign. Tell them that this is unacceptable. Tell them that if Obama does not reverse his stance, that you will not donate to the campaign any more and that you will not vote for him.
Make Obama earn your vote. Don't let him take it for granted.
He seems to think that, having won the primary, he's free to drift as far to the right as he wants. But we need to remember that he is a public servant. He serves us. If he fails to do so, well, then it will be clear that we were wrong about him.

Unbelievable.
Change my ass. This is just total fucking horse shit.
Obama has been making some serious right turns recently.
I'm sorry but, whatever we might like him to be, it's clear that, at best, he's a centrist accomodater.

Man, if I made a list of every politician that I thought was a bitch or a dick, my hand would fall off. To be sure, they come in different flavors such as corporatist bitches or war mongering dick, etc., but they convey they get the same general point across. Most politicians are repugnant and inadequate human beings.
Irrespecitve of how innapropriate for Castellanos to say what I was already thinking on national TV,if politics has become so precious that we, as private citizens on a message board, castrate our language and leave it to late night comedians "push boundaries" and to deliver the truth while we get fucked over by politicians, then this ship is surely sinking.
The fact of the matter is that our domain of choices as voters has shrunk so alarmingly that the majority of our options are bitches and the tactless dicks who get on national TV to bash bitches.
Still, even though I wish for better, I can't help but point out that, while Clinton's campaign has been devoid of anything remotely resembling substantive politics, she has made it very clear that she is a selfish bitch.

Dude, McCain can't raise his arms over his head because what was done to him while he was a POW. I'm no McCain fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I think we can lay off him for that.
Besides, there's plenty of other stupid shit we can make fun of him for. He's practically got a political bullseye hanging from his neck.

It's a very good analogy, but not perfect. 'Cause while the Knicks and Bulls are playing games, Ralph Nader is running a campaign that is actually relevant to preserving democracy, the constitution, the environment, and consumer rights while disavowing imperialism and corporatism.
Shooting hoops ain't gonna end the war.

One thing is certain, this primary season is souring me towards the Democratic Party. I believe they've been foolish allowing Senator Clinton to crap all over this election. Contrary to Josh's hypothesis that I'm starting to doubt Obama, I'm doubting the democratic party all together.
Couldn't agree more Indie Pro. For me this primary season has really hammered home the impression that the two parties only serve to recipriocally invoke each other. It's white hat/black hat stuff, and it's pathetically unsophisticated.
It's appalling that Hillary has drifted so far from herself (or at least the definition of herself that she'd originally constructed) that she's "re-branded" herself as a closet Republican and started wearing a black hat. But it's equally appalling that Obama, a candidate who inspires such unfounded hopes in many voters, is himself hopelessly trapped in the white hat/black hat dynamic.
The Dems are just really unconvincing as good guys. Fall guys, yes.

I think that the left still has plenty of grounds for criticizing Obama.
It's just that framing the argument in the capitalism = racism paradigm disregards important information pertaining to why he should be criticized. In any case, Obama leaves plenty to be desired when he addresses issues of race.
I feel that a more appropriate paradigm might be this:
capitalism that has drifted away from itself and become corporatism = calssism that inevitably entails racism
Talking "about" race but neglecting to discuss class and corporatism, as Obama always does, is just semantic slight of hand. It's too superficial to be considered substantive discourse, but this frequently goes unnoticed unless you turn your attention away from the two party horse race and the MSM in order to track down alternative perspectives.
Here are example articles that highlight what I mean. The one highlighting the corporatist dynamic at play in Democratic donations even comes from the Wall Street Journal:

http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=90&ItemID=14670
http://www.zcommunications.org/znet/viewArticle/17034
These articles leave me sputtering mad, yes. But they don't leave me without plenty of grounds for real criticism of Obama from the left: He's a centrist, hawkish, corporatist, imperialist racial accommodator.

So, here's a question: why does Obama respond to Hillary's statements and media manipulations as though they are valid, as though they're actually substantive political discourse?
Why doesn't he just re-hire Powers (or reject her resignation) and point out how factually impoverished and self serving Hillary's recent attack tactics are? Why not point out how badly her turn from substantive discourse to fear mongering Rove-isms is maiming the party?
Am I naive to think he could gain traction this way?

So here's a question then, what do you guys think of Nader's notion of adopting a Wall Street securities speculation tax? Would it help to level the the playing field between the working class and corporate execs?
