Jason Rae's 15 unfortunate minutes.
The Obama campaign has been handed a perfect storm. They have decided to cast their lot with the "pledged" delegates and are dismissing the superdelegates.Enter Jason Rae, the youngest of the supers. He is now the posterchild of that gang of...more »

That spot is perfect. Completely takes Coleman's commercial and destroys it.
Al Franken waited until this year to run against Coleman, to avenge the death of his dear friend Paul Wellstone. Next to President, this is the race I want us to win the most.

It was dull for the first hour, but heated up nicely eventually. I must admit to missing the "That one" line in real time. I was probably emailing Josh with a witty comment he didn't post.
Obama took the lesson of Debate 1 and sharpened his Iraq answers tonight. Sure it was a zinger, but it was better than the hair plug line.

In the words of Bill, "It's the economy stupid."
Hammer it home for the next 48 days and Obama will be the next President. The long form commercial is a good start. Should he get a bit wonky in the days ahead? I think he will very likely strike the right balance. McCain is playing off the old playbook and that will hurt him. As for the ugliness, McCain's team might be a little gunshy to attack Obama in the old ways as the liar meme is gelling nicely. Any BS attacks will be fact checked rigorously by the MSM now.
There are 2 days left in the workweek. Obama still has to take it to McCain. Ignoring Palin is paying dividends. I expect it to continue.

If you have ever spent any time on Staten Island (Which I call "The Rock") then you will know this is entirely possible.

No, but I've been to Kenya, Tanzania, New Zealand, Australia, most of Europe, and I once had a brief layover in the Phoenix Airport.
And I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

OldSarg,
I assume you are getting McCain merchandise points for this nonsense you write here. I look forward to seeing you in a Palin pitbull t-shirt in the days ahead.
Seriously, do you and I live in the same country?

Seriously, what the fuck are you talking about? You are taking an ad by the Obama campaign and filtering it through Jonah Goldberg's idiotic rantings. McCain can't type or email? Could you please prove that codswallop?
As for Palin and her brother in law, as a fellow human, I understand the desire to protect members of my family. As a citizen, however, I cannot respect using your public office for private purposes. Oil, meet water.

Perhaps one of the reasons is because the press perceived Al Gore's "exaggerations" as self inflicted, and therefore much easier to attack & mock.
McCain is attacking his opponent, which is to be expected in a national campaign. Therefore the bar is naturally higher for reporters to call a candidate on their lies.
However, the Palin resume puffery is beginning to break through because it is similar to what the press accused Gore of. It's easier to mock someone's claims about themselves than it is to mock their attacks on an opponent.

The McCain campaign is trying to inoculate Palin from ANY criticism by crying "sexism" so that when any tough questions are asked of her, they have already created their frame. Their newest commercial has directly linked Obama & Biden to the charges, saying they disrespected her.
It remains to be seen if the MSM will actually do its job. The mistake they may have made was shielding her from actual questions for so long. It has become a joke and every single interaction with reporters will now be scrutinized much more carefully. Hopefully Gibson will be tougher in Day 2.
The bloom is off the rose.
