Dear TheraP,
I love your comment (as usual) but I have to disagree this time that she would be home with her kids if, as slick wrote, "she didn't have a vagina"! Oh wait, silly me, no doubt we're talking multiple virgin births here.

Asking relevant follow-up questions that point out inconsistencies and falsehoods does not mean 'attack'. I agree with much of your post, but your position on how gingerly the press should deal with those in power seems overly deferential to me.

Well I don't want to criticize because I don't know how well I would have held up being face to face with political power and fame, but for Josh to write that David 'pressed' Pelosi with his one or two polite questions, all the while letting her bullshit 'answers' go unchallenged is laughable, and sets a very low standard for any future TPM interviews.

How appalling to see that so many readers of TPM apparently don't give a shit about the Constitution.
And, as Greenwald wrote yesterday -- how about ONE shred of evidence that displaying this kind of "mush to the center" has ever helped a Democrat win.
But if daddy Obama says it is so then it must be so, except he was saying the opposite until now, so has reality changed or has daddy Obama changed?Posted at July 3, 2008 10:25 AM in response to Group Urging Obama To Oppose FISA Cave Now Biggest On His Web Site

I was sympathetic to your post until I read GG's actual writing today, which I find myself in complete agreement with. I am concerned there is so much blind allegiance going on that 'Barack knows better than we do, just trust him'. I will trust him as far as his actions warrant trust, and no further. Right now that's not very far.
I think everyone who is pooh-poohing Obama's caving in here needs to read Naomie Wolfe's The End of America. Obama staked his whole campaign on being different, and what he is showing now is "Same ol, Same ol You Can Believe In". Very sad.Posted at June 26, 2008 2:31 PM in response to More friendly fire: Greenwald Edition

Much as I am tempted to immediately cut my ties to Obama over this, we will need to wait for next week to see how he behaves in the Senate. But his weasely statement today is not a good omen.
Sure if he folds, I'll still vote for him, but no more than that.

I got through to Obama's office earlier and spoke to a very concerned person who wanted to learn more about this. Glenn Greenwald's column today is a must read.
Obama is the leader of the Democratic party; if he doesn't stop this then I will be removing 'Hussein' as my middle name. (He'll be crushed, I know.)

Your points are valid, but by stating 'the other detainees who were innocent' you imply that this man is not innocent. Yet what untainted evidence is there that this man is guilty? And whatever evidence there is, would it be enough to convict him in a fair trial? We just don't know, because of the lawlessness that permeates this 'administration'. How fondly I recall the seemingly archaic principle of 'innocent until proven guilty'.

I have no argument with the gist of your posting but, have to take issue with this statement:
The both have trouble winning over one block of the democratic coalition--Hillary with liberal activists, black voters, and younger voters, and Obama, mostly, with older voters
So liberal activists, black voters, and younger voters = 1 block? Sounds like 3 to me! (and you left out college-educated latte-sippers like me, which makes it 4 to 1 in favor of Obama.Posted at May 9, 2008 1:37 PM in response to Hillary Campaign Emails Out "Electability" Power-Point To All House Dems
