  • Black Voters Flee From Obama in Droves

Only a day after Senator Barack Obama delivered what some considered the greatest speech on the subject of race since Martin Luther King related one of his dreams, black voters in the keystone state have begun to abandon the presidential...more »

  • Hey! Where's the rest of the post? My best jokes were in there!

  • Let me get this straight. You're disheartened because of what a friend of Obama's thinks? Do you have any friends who are a bit racist, or who sometimes say something wildly inappropriate? I have people like that in my family. Should I disassociate myself from my grandpa? Or would it be better for me to love the old coot anyway, and try to keep him out of the public eye? Is it hypocritical for me to teach my child tolerance even though her great grandad isn't capable of showing any? I don't think so.

  • Obama's stated goal is bringing the country together. Clinton works by divide and conquer. I don't think the Clintons should be purged or anything like the previous post suggests, but I do think we can do better.

  • I'm an Obama supporter living in Georgia. I don't know if he could carry my state in November, but with him as nominee I have hope. With Hillary, I have none.

A 50-state strategy would stretch the playing field and strain the republicans' budget. They would have to fight to keep states Clinton appears ready to concede.

  • Why would the democrats abandon the 50 state strategy?

Hillary as nominee instantly narrows the playing field for the republicans, since Hillary will concede the vast majority of the country (including my state of Georgia) as unwinnable. The pubs will focus their money and energy on swing states like Ohio, while the rest of us sit on the sidelines watching the dems blow it again.

Obama as nominee does the opposite. He stretches the playing field (and therefore the republicans budget.)

The Supreme court argument only applies to certain people in certain states. The rest of us won't matter.

  • I live in Georgia. I had hoped Howard Dean's 50 state strategy and Obama as the nominee would keep my state in play. Hillary and Co. seem ready to write us off. We're not as important as states like Ohio (which has blown the last two big elections by my count), so if she wrestles away (or steals) this election, why bother voting at all? I'll be sitting on the sidelines watching the democrats blow it again.
