  • Sounds like it may be time for someone on the legislative counsel to execute a leak in the public-interest.

  • The take-away from this bit of advanced line-straddling is that Petraeus thinks Obama is going to win the election, and that Petraeus wants to keep his job. While he says that he doesn't like to get political, it was his d-bagnificent politicization of his position that made him in Johnny Mac's eyes "one of the greatest generals ever."

Lesser mortals (like me) would shitcan him on day 1; I suspect Obama will keep him around, de-balled, in order to keep his enemies close. Perhaps he can put him in charge of timely withdrawal.

  • I suspect that if the same judge who booted their motions to quash the subpoenas hears the McCain camp declare imperiously that they will comply with the subpoenas in a manner of their own choosing, at least in Todd's case, it's not going to work out too well for them if they have to go before him/her to decide the issue. It appears the imported McCain (formerly Bush) lawyers have developed some bad habits that do not travel well.

  • That, and Saracuda may have waived any spousal privilege that may have applied at the same time that she waived any executive privilege that may have applied by carbon copying Todd on those official business emails that weren't produced (ya' know, the ones that she sent from her yahoo accounts with subject headings that included the names of political enemies and such like)

  • Sarah didn't merely "pal around" with secessionists, she was married to one.

  • "his surrogates aren't even suggesting that McCain saved the day."

Not yet they're not. Instead, they're pow-wowing how to blame the dems for the bill McSnarly swooped in to save, the same one he voted for, then called a disaster.

Don't be surprised if McCain begins to call the bailout the "Bush-Obama bailout bill."

And it may work. Notwithstanding the hair-on-fire media blitz, I think a significant number of voters will use this bill as a litmus test. It shouldn't affect the presidential race, but could adversely some House races.

  • Maybe Fox News has given him notice or stopped calling, or he's got a boat payment coming up, and he wants some of that tasty Brooks-flavored perceived moderate TV lucre. Either way, I agree it's all about Chuckie.

  • In answer to your question, Chuckie is never right, ever.
Which is why I'd just as soon he not concede anything or endorse Obama, however tepidly. The Krauthammer curse is powerful, and could wreck surer things than an Obama victory.

  • Good point. I wondered the same thing - which would be perfectly in keeping with her black widow history.

On the other hand, in her defense, it's hard to keep up on McCain's most recent position on a lot of stuff.

  • There were several instances where it was apparent that Sarah had no idea how to answer (and no index card at her disposal, either) and so offered a sacrificial guess brushing the question aside before launching into her talking points. At least a couple of those instances required that she answer a yes/no question, so she simply flipped a coin and, in this case guessed wrong.

In fact, if I recall correctly, her first response to the bankruptcy question did not even include the introductory swatting away of the actual question, but instead just launched right into the talking points on another subject entirely. Her wrong guess on McCain's actual bankruptcy position was, I think, her second shot at that one (in response to one of Gwen's very few follow-ups).
