One debate down, two to go.  (I don't count Biden-Palin.  That's not a debate, that's vaudeville.)  Last week's first Obama-McCain debate was scheduled to cover foreign policy yet was dropped surreally into the middle of the nation's most...more »

The Dow dropped some five hundred points on Monday, losing 4.4% of its value between breakfast and high tea.  Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy, Merrill Lynch was snatched up by Bank of America and American International Group teetered on...more »

  • How Good Is Obama?

To call the Democratic National Convention conflicted would not do it justice -- it's positively bi-polar.  Dems have spent the first three days alternating between celebration and hand-wringing.  More time and energy is being spent dissecting the Clinton's...more »

  • Hmmm, I dunno. I understand the entertainment factor -- like Grand Theft Auto for thinking adults -- but as a tool? I've been here for a few months now and the next mind I see changed by the dialogue will be the first. So how exactly is it winning elections?

  • So, I just checked my homepage. Stories include: McCain giving a mystical speech imagining Bin Laden dead and suggesting a timeline for Iraq withdrawal, California Supreme Court overturns gay marriage ban, Obama accuses Bush of false accusation, CBS is increasing their media monopoly by buying CNet. And what do we have here? A FOUR-HOUR SWEETIE THREAD! What a trivial, misguided, partisan clusterfuck our political dialogue has become. Oops, sorry, gotta go. I'm off to stand by the peephole in my apartment door -- maybe something will happen.

  • I agree -- it's a huge difference between the candidates and one of the reasons I much prefer Obama. However, you are making my point. What he says would be true, as you say. Just as what she's saying is true. It's not racism.

  • Actually, TM, I agree with you. Great comment. It's just that Corrupt or Corrupt? doesn't make for much of a game. I might have to think about a different choice for next week's installment.
