Because Oregon does mail-in voting and voters had through yesterday to get they're ballots post-marked. Ballots in Oregon will continue to arrive in elections offices over the next week or so.

Okay, clearly team Obama needs to work on the 65% of the people who think McCain has more "knowledge of world affairs."

For crying out loud, this is a man who doesn't understand the basic religious dynamics that are fueling much of the political infighting and actual violence in Iraq.

Here's a man who seems perfectly comfortable starting another war in Iran.

And what exactly does he know about Russia? China? India? Even Europe for pete's sake.

Louisville, who exactly do you think is going to be at the convention? It's going to be pledged delegates, super delegates and add-on delegates. So at some point, whether they make an official endorsement now, or wait and surprise us all in August, the super delegates are going to have a vote and their vote would be required by both candidates, since neither of them have enough pledged delegate to fully put them over the top. One simply has more than the other and so that gives him greater legitimacy.

These were fliers being delivered to the public, so yes they count as "general public political advertising." The only advertising that the FEC exempts from this description are internet ads.

The only items that do not require a disclaimer are:

situations where a disclaimer notice cannot be conveniently printed, the notice is not required. This provision affects items such as pens, bumper stickers, campaign pins, campaign buttons and similar small items. Further, a disclaimer notice is not required for communications using skywriting, clothing, water towers or other forms of advertisement where it would be impracticable to display the disclaimer notice.

According to the FEC website, this sounds like a violation of the law.

A disclaimer is required on any political communication.

As defined in FEC regulations, the term "public communication" includes:

* Broadcast, cable or satellite transmission;
* Newspaper;
* Magazine;
* Outdoor advertising facility (e.g., billboard);
* Mass mailing (defined as more than 500 pieces of mail matter of an identical or substantially similar nature within any 30-day period);
* Telephone banks (defined as more than 500 telephone calls of an identical or substantially similar nature within any 30-day period); or
* Any other general public political advertising. General public political advertising does not include Internet ads, except for communications placed for a fee on another person’s web site

And on messages not authorized by the candidate the disclaimer must read:

On a public communication that is not authorized by a candidate or his/her campaign committee, the disclaimer notice must identify who paid for the message, state that it was not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee and list the permanent street address, telephone number or World Wide Web address of the person who paid for the communication. 11 CFR 110.11(b)(3).

Example: "Paid for by the QRS Committee (www.QRScommittee.org) and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee."

Although I'm not keeping nearly as close a track on the superdelegate race as many others it seems that lately Obama has been picking up more and more party officials. I wonder if this support is in any way related to his willingness to participate in a DNC fund raiser. That kind of cooperation and support has got to sit well with the party.
