  • I would gently caution any of us from being in any way complacent about an Obama win. We were SO sure Kerry couldn't lose.

Don't forget vote fraud. I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason Dick Cheney is seen much about these days is because he's busy fixing voting machines.

  • So grateful I don't have a TV and have this weepfest slosh out of my screen like some sickly syrup.

Agreed: if MSNBC wants to hug and cry and weep together, fine. Just don't make me watch it.

Google "Timmeh" to see how many of Russert's mournful friends were criticizing him not so long ago for declaring the Democratic winner, among other crimes. Death is such a reputation cleanser.

Russert was a mid-level hack, not a courageous speaker of truth to power by ANY stretch--if he were he'd have been Donahued a long time ago. Richard Cheney's supposed to be a wonderful dad, too.

  • Wasn't it during Nixon's reign that the term "limited hangout" was coined? Probably during the hysteria on both the left and right over this book yet more egregious acts will be committed.

  • Complain to the FCC--and then turn off FoxNews. Every time you watch and are outraged, Rupert profits. Eyeballs are eyeballs--that's all he wants.

I haven't had a TV since January and I'm still up to date on the latest on-screen gaffes.

  • If two or three entities investigate it, you have a ready-made talk show. All three can disagree, effectively neutralizing any single one's findings. Perfect way to stall and stonewall.

  • Parker is a stalking horse, if I define it correctly. Code words for racism that will be used to benefit the McCain candidacy, and which are being tried out through writers like Parker, will include "full-blooded American" and "fully American," to see if they are GRAS to use by white folks who want to elect white folks without sounding racist. McCain may be described as having "an American mother and an American father," from "an American family." The emphasis will be on "American," but the underlying word will be "white like us."

  • Sorry, Obama can't win against 200 years of entrenched legal and societal racism. That may not sit well with most on this page, but 'Mericans aren't all that smart to begin with, make a fetish of their unlearnedness, and will always vote for the candidate who looks like a President, i.e., an old white man.

Obama's name alone is enough to doom his candidacy. Watch for the McCain TV commercials to stress Obama's Otherness and how we can't, in these troubled times, trust anything TOO new or TOO different. John McCain: For us (translation: one of us, the White Christians).

  • Yes: and that's why it will be President McCain. Too many voters would rather vote Republican than black. "Not gonna put no colored boy in the White House. Yes, I know there are good colored people too; doesn't mean they should be President."

(I don't support Clinton, Obama OR McCain. I support stockpiling canned goods.)

  • Yes, and when McCain rides the race card all the way to the White House, will you say, "Oh, but look how much we learned about ourselves. That was our victory: we brought a discussion of race into the Presidential election. So salutory, really."

    Pfff.

  • The simplest, fastest, and most effective way to reduce the depletion of resources, pollution of resources, and global warming is to eliminate as many humans as possible as soon as possible.

As well as being heartless and savage, it has the advantage of being relatively easy to accomplish--unlike, say, carbon caps or a biofuel switchover. Or world peace and cooperation.

Gee, I wonder what country is best equipped for such a project?
