  • Testing does a service by listing war crimes but LogicalConsideration is exactly right about the power of the speaker. And really, you are happy it is so.

We want the government to be difficult to take down. That is why Bill Clinton survived. It had less to do with him than bringing down a Democratic president. (I'm a FOB but that is how I see the impeachment thing)

It's also why Gore did not contest the supremes.
It's not worth it to test the limits of our government too far.

Keeping the dream of America is worth something to the whole F*%#ing world.

Eventually the world will get around to prosecuting Bush co. In many ways we already have.

(If you're really paranoid, you can assume that is why he ("didn't") buy that land he bought in Paraguay.) He won't go to jail but he is already toast.

Obama will win but he won't be his own man. He will be owned by all of us. Every bit of every thing he does will be argued but don't you feel a consensus towards so many of the goals he espouses? Climate, Iraq, healthcare* ...etcetera etcetera....

Hillary was hitched to the same star. We all are.

It is still useful for the people who are paying attention to the war crimes to keep up their protest and encourage firebrands like Kucinich and Wexler to keep the heat on. Even if there is a major culture wide shift there needs to be people on the fringes pushing and "testing" the limits, otherwise we won't progress.

  • Craig, I'm a Hillary supporter who will gladly take your hand. What a lovely post thank you for showing a level of compassion and understanding rarely expressed here @ the cafe. Your story about the crowded house and your aunt and uncle was a brilliant frame.

  • This is like saying "he was begging me to rob him with those fancy shoes" or "she was begging me to rape her cuz she was so hot".

I just think Clinon folks have a completely different perspective. One that you don't agree with/understand and it makes you angry so you allow yourself to think they come here for your abuse.

Many of us just can't get the thrill you have with your guy and think Hillary will have a better chance of beating McCain. We see the evidence pretty convincingly. We think she will be a better president.

We also think Obama is better suited to be the spokesperson usually handled by the VP.
Obama's unknowns are too great and his negatives rise with his positives further diluting the argument against Hillary.

As VP, he would become known and more widely loved if he is as great as you suggest.

All of us would like nothing more than for you to be right about Obama; but since you are stubbornly wrong about Hillary, how can we trust your judgment?

See that is the bridge that needs to be built. One where neither side sees the middle when you start out. Which one of these two makes the right move? (She/he should be the pres. and the other be offered the VP.)

    Otherwise its splitzville.

  • Thanks cute white dog. I'm very pleased to see Obama's numbers improving in these match ups, because that bodes well for Nov.

I find it heart breaking that Hillary is winning even more convincingly, and her numbers are stronger than his and improving as well, and yet the CW is that she has lost.

I really believe dems ignore her strength at their peril.

read the Argus leader endorsement of Hillary today.

(The link is on TPM. at top right.)

In case you forgot, that is where the RFK gaffe was made. I find it a compelling case for the candidate I feel I have known for 35 years.

  • Sending video of Olberman blowing his last gasket to every news outlet, while Obama is saying publicly that he has moved on, is fanning the flames; just like their unforgivable race baiting.

If the word "assassination" is so sacred, what is OK with mixing up facts on "Auschwitz"? Isn't the holocaust equally off limits in the gaffe department?

    Whats good for the gander...

  • So now you use terrorism- (threat to riot) to win your point? Do you really believe riots will occur if there is a contested convention? Do you rtemember the preppy riots in Florida? We do and we won't be bullied.

Do you think this is the way to settle things? If obama cannot stop his supporters from rioting he should not be president. Is that why he whips up big boisterous crowds? So he can use the threat of violence to advance his position and close the deal for him?

What do you think a convention is for? They don't call it a coronation. It is a place to use democracy to decide a contest. This is a contest. It IS close.
