  • The Republican party has dragged the political discourse of this country into the gutter and that is why we are failing as a country. The Obama campaign and most leaders in the Democratic party think that the thing to do is to stick to the issues in the hope that the people will see that they are offering something better. Unfortunately, that approach not only doesn't work, but it perpetuates the problem. The unfortunate reality is that the only way out of this is for the Democrats to use the same Republican tactics of character assassination. Give them some of their own medicine until they decide it is in their interest to stop. In this case the Democrats can destroy McCain's candidacy by telling the truth about him.
But my guess is that they won't go there, they will keep pussyfooting around, and they will keep on loosing.

  • Much less likely to get clobbered in November? Have you seen her negatives? But on the other hand, having survived the hail of bullets at the Tusla airport, maybe she is ready to take on McCain.

  • There was a withering hail of sniper fire. Sure, Hillary and Chelsea stopped to listen to the little girl read a poem. That was because Hillary didn't want the little girl to be upset, thinking there might be something wrong. As soon as the poem was read, Hillary wisked her to safety. I'm sure.

  • Where is the racism in Wright's speech? Wright is angry about injustice. Saint Augustine said: Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.
You make a leap from Wright's anger to bombing and terrrorism without any justification.

  • Great point. Righteous anger is not the same thing as hate and racism. I agree with Wright, but I understand why Obama does not.

  • Hannity will 'rip into" any democratic candidate. Hannity is not going to determine the outcome of this election. The power of the right wing blowhards is slipping fast even among their own base.

  • Many white people can't see the subtle racism in an ad like this. They find the charge ridiculous. However, the polling data from Texas and the fact that Clinton ran the ad in Texas but not Ohio are telling. When you add this to Bill's comments in South Carolina and Hillary's "not as far as I know" comment, it becomes clear what the kitchen sink strategy is about. Hillary is running a Republican campaign. From her promotion of the idea that Saddam was connected to Al Qaida and 9-11 justified the invasion of Iraq to "not as far as I know" and the 3 am ad, her corruption is now complete.

  • Perhaps Senator Clinton should consider a joint ticket with McCain since she has such a high regard for him and the thresholds they have crossed together. They are a good fit ideologically.
