  • Paid voter-registration-collectors and paid petition-circulators are a problem everywhere and on both sides of the aisle, and the above commenters are all spot on.

I've gone after paid petition-circulators before, and while you can prove that they broke laws by faking signatures, that does NOT translate to intent by the organization paying them and it certainly does NOT translate to "voter fraud".

I just received an e-mail from the McCain camp yesterday asking for money so that they can do "EMERGENCY VOTER REGISTRATION AND GET-OUT-THE- VOTE EFFORT". Betcha the same problems exist there, and it would sure be nice to see joint state and federal cooperation on raiding them. (By the way, an AZ Republican political consultant(Nathan Sproul) was a main culprit in several states last election cycle.)

  • As I've posted and commented several times today, they SHOULD have Friday's debate, for the good of the nation.

Buttttttttttt, how about debating Friday AND next Thursday? Either a double-header, or... A TAG-TEAM MATCH!!!

  • A perfect blast from Reid!

The only suggestion for improvement would be for him to slightly re-work it and get a Shelby or another Republican leader in the Senate to sign on, as a JOINT STATEMENT!

  • Good point, and thanks for the comment.

But, can't you see someone like Powell saying that one would be electrifying, BUT we really need a ???? person in the job.

  • Yes, this was more akin to McCain's ads around the DNC(onvention). But, actually, this is even better, because it lacks the taste of cynical disingenuous with which McCain was/is embracing Hillary.

  • Do NOT blast video cutting off her "clarification" or use an ad with just the sentence about McCain! Do crap like that, and Obama loses the media attacking McCain/Palin on their lies. Not to mention that Obama loses the high(er) ground. (No Obama supporter should want to see that.)

  • I think it is the undecideds in the middle, demosaur. I agree that the committed R's and D's are no (longer) fans of his, yet I think a lot of people see his deliberative nature as refreshingly-nonpartisan and commendable.

As for MzTicketyBoo's comment, I agree - I'm guessing Powell is still thinking about the earlier (circa 2000) version of McCain. Pre-2004 sell-my-soul McCain.

    Great line, liam! Thanks.

  • Well put, schyler.

As an aside, I posted about this story yesterday - you referenced Ohio: do you have some more info on that?
