  • once the 24 hour shock wears off the facts of Ms Palin will need to be answered:

    (a) her financial statement of 2007 shoes she is worth $10million. As she never held a job that would produce this kind of income and her family is not of means and her husband is a union member- where was this fortune amassed? (makes her net worth 2 1/2 time more than Sen Obama who wrote 2 best selling books)
    (b) she wants creationism taught in schools
    (c) she does not believe in Global Warming
    (d) She is anti choice
    (e) she is ot for equal pay for equal work
    (f) she was FOR the Bridge for Nowhere - as matter of fact this was part of her platform in 2006 in running for governor.
She accepted the money from congress for her state. She then decided not to go ahead with the bridge but kept the money for other projects.

    Reformer? I don't think so

She is for a windfall profit tax on the oil companies which is a pillar of Obama's campaign (and McCain is against)

She is for drilling in Anwr (which McCain is against)

John McCain - made a decision who would/could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency on a person he met ONCE and had ONE telephone call with

This is not the sign of a Maverick
    This is RECKLESS and cynical

Stop with the talking points - this is the audition for the most powerful person in the world --

If he wanted to shake it up and have a female running mate - what about Condi Rice? Kay Bailey Hutchinson? Christy Whitman?
There are Republican women of substance - he didn't pick one

The man is 72 years old and been through four bouts of cancerand this is putting Country First?

I think not - this is putting blind ambition first

    John McCain doesn't get it

agreed about the ad- it is still on YouTube on McCain's site

I am a BIG Obama fan but think they are so afraid of Obama appearing as the "angry black man" that the ONLY choice is to name a VP this week who can ATTACK - and not Hillary--

Obama needs the election to become about McCain and Bush and get it off of him as the topic

If Hillary was the VP it would be worse and be about THEM -- he need Biden (lesser choice Bayh) who are more white bread - but have been around and can push back

"I have been in the Senate with John McCain for 20 years and John is not the same man. He is willing to do anything to win even embrace the strategy used against him by GWB in 2000"

This has to be about the population and the issues
and the democrats have to SIMPLIFY the message

The democrats needs to train all the Obama surrogates how to fight back --

And as not ONE of them has mentione the McCain ad with Obams's face on the $100 bill - the Obama campaign needs to prepare them better

It is a mistake to think this is all going to go away - which is what I think the Obama campaign is doing --

THEY NEED TO FIGHT AND THE SAME WAY OBAMA GOADED BILL CLINTON - HE NEEDS TO GOAD JOHN MC CAIN
McCain is not as smart as Bill Clinton and has a worse temper -- and Obama needs to draw that out

THE MC CAIN CAMPAIGN IS DISRESPECTFUL OF OBAMA
MC CAIN VOTED AGAINST MLK HOLIDAY ON A STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL
MC CAIN SUPPORTS BUSH'S TAX CUSTS BECOMING PERMANENT
MC CAIN CALLED SOCIAL SECURITY "DISGRACEFUL"
MC CAIN'S ECONOMIC GURU CALLED THIS A "RECESSION IN PEOPLE'S IMAGINATION"

c'mon Obama people - the ammo is there

    GET THE GUN
    and load it

Buyt you need people who are willing to fire their weapons

    stop this now

Posted at May 25, 2008 3:17 PM in response to Some Further Thought on the A-Word Gaffe

  • Completely disagree

It was always unlikely Obama would select Hillary Clinton as VP -- now it is impossible

That is the only positive outcome from Friday's comments

The saying goes "Hillary Clinton" sucks all the air of the room -- she will likely need to leave the Senate as she will never win a private vote for Majority Leader now either

I think she needs her own fiefdom - like a University President -- This way she can continue to creat her own reality and everything she "rules" over is forced to accept her version of reality

It is really sad - Sen Clinton hurt herself, her family name, her party and if she does not bow out June 3rd and stop the May 31st baloney (and I am a Florida resident) - she will have a great deal of responsibility for the NOv election

I believe Sen Obama will win at any rate in Nov - but the Clintons will not be forgiven for making this so much more difficult than it should be

  • I think the posters should clarify there age/reference of this

I was 15 when RFK was shot and was devastated

There is no defense of Hillary Clinton - who was in her 20's at the time - brigning this up

    NONE

Gwen Ifill this am on MTP said it very well "Politicians should NEVER say the words Assassination or Hitler"

    It never works

  • Hillary was an early "triangulator"

    She worked for:
    Goldwater
    Rockefeller
    Melvin Laird
    McGovern

and that was just in 1968
Always putting ambition and hedging bets against principle and moral courage

As we have now learned Hillary named the now infamous "WAR ROOM" maybe the Clinton strategy started with the Rodham brain?

And that is NOT a compliment

The major problem with Bill and Hillary is that they were ALWAYS the smartest people in the room

    Until now that is

  • The NYT put the weight of the "paper of record" behind their hometown senator before super tuesday - when it mattered most

What you see now is their disappointment as well as the voice of individual columnists who are disappointed with the polarizing and negative campaign Sen Clinton had sunk to before the NC/Indiana decisions

What you are seeing is a newspaper who supported Sen Clinton but being realists now accept and know that Sen Obama will be the Democratic nominee and they have their eye on November

This is something all democrats should be doing
Focusing on McCain and a Novemeber victory for Barack Obama

The primary is over and even Sen Clinton knows this - it's time everyone who wants this country to have change and move forward gather together in support of the nest POTUS - Barack Obama

I am VERY concerned about the court for many reasons - you are correct

I am concerned about business regulations (or lack there of), I am concerned about civil right or infringement of), I am concerned about the unbelievably arrogant Antonin Scalia as the strongest voice on the court - with a weak Chief Justice - and having a Scalia majority determine this country's judicial course

I worry for my children - and everyone else's children as well

But the main point of the post - was for the uber Hillary supporters to stop saying they are going to vote for McCain -- If they are true Hillary supporters and respect her record on women's rights and women's issues, then there is no issue more pressing than the potential imminent overturnning of Roe V Wade (or Griswald or whatever anyone wants to refer to)

If women care about women's issues they can be disappointed this will not be the year for a woman president BUT that should not change their point of view on the issues

And Barack Obama is the nest choice for that

  • what about the Clinton supporter who invited Rev Wright to speak at the National Press Club?

That os FAR worse and you don't see the Obama people crying over it-- because all these connections are tangential

Hillary has way more unsavory connections than Obama ever could- the man is trying to elevate the discourse-- it's the Clinton campaign continually throwing mud via surrogates (see the Sidney Blumetnal piece??)

    puh-leese
It the throwing mud race - Clinton wins hands down
