If there is a liberal media conspiracy, and I hope there is, it ought to stop reporting every word and gesture of Sarah Palin. She is a two-bit demagogue not worthy of the ink or air time. Turn off the cameras, put down the pens, let her spew to her faithful few and spare the rest of us the rising disgust. Without the media following her around, she's just a hockey mom shitting in the woods.

I think there's a lesson in this for all the dingbats who have been calling for Obama to "stand up for himself, get tough, attack, attack, attack." The McCain campaign's constant and shrill attempts to assassinate Obama's character have ultimately assassinated McCain's character, but not Obama's. Or to put it in language dingbats might understand, McCain pissed into the wind and got it all over him. Obama, please note, refrained from doing the same, and now looks all the better for it. Better yet, his shoes are dry.

Raining bombs down on the people of Vietnam is not heroic. Sitting in a jail in North Vietnam is insufficient punishment for bombing and killing and there is nothing heroic about it. Bombers are not heroes. John McCain is not a hero. Never was. He was a hard-drinking bully, a Navy jet jockey killer.

The real John McCain was revealed the day he hugged George Bush. He's an old, confused, perhaps dotty, hack politician with a red nose. He's an opportunist with no guiding beliefs or convictions. He postures and changes positions to suit the day, the audience, the opportunity.

There will be no White House for John McCain, no redemption for the old killer.
