  • So whoever is running John McCain's team must have shouted "Loose the Hounds!". They were all over the place this weekend. From my perspective it resembled an orchestrated tirade: we're losing and we've tried everything and oh,you know, I'm just going to scream because I just can't take it anymore!!!

When this is all over, if Obama wins, if McCain returns to the Senate, will anyone ever again say "I know John McCain, he's a friend of mine"? Every time Biden says he's a friend of McCain I want to punch his light out!

  • Yes, the reasons my formerly Republican voting husband gives for supporting Obama are temperament and judgment. But the third item, not politically-correct I'm sure, is fear of the Republican vice presidential candidate awaiting the "Rapture". Just scares him.

  • We should all be grateful that McCain selected Sarah Palin because now it should become clear to everyone that 20-25% of the electorate (the Religious Right) believe that they should impose their beliefs on the other 75%.

The Religious Right are as sure as the Taleban that they are directed to impose their will on us because they talk to God, talk in tongues, and believe we may be in the End Times.

Do you want one of these crazies anywhere near the presidency of the United States? The cynical Maverick McCain has turned to them hoping his Hail Sarah pass will win the election. He has simultaneously thrown the rest of us under the bus.

If I were John McCain I'd hire a food taster; the base obviously prefers Sarah to John.

  • What is this, a presidential election or a melodrama?

Can we just get on with it.

I want to hear about health care, social security, getting out of Iraq, re-regulating of the banking industry -- policies not pregnancies.

  • As a Democrat opposed to McCain's policies and distrustful of his judgement, I think Sarah Palin was a great choice . . . for the Democrats.

Anyone who had any doubts about McCain's judgement should question no longer. His judgement is poor. Anyone who had any doubts about McCain's temperament should question no more. He is a gambler and a risk-taker.

Hillary Clinton is a competent, experienced female whose policies I support. The insinuation that I would vote for the Republican ticket because one of the candidates possesses ovaries is the supreme insult.

The Republicans are distressed because Hurricane Gustav is preempting the news cycle; on the contrary, it may be that the less the public sees the better off they will be.

Posted at August 31, 2008 1:55 PM in response to First poll: Palin choice has moved undecideds sharply against McCain

  • I have just listened to Governor Palin as she spoke to a very enthusiastic group of McCain supporters. She is a very interesting lady with a 5-month-old baby who was born with Down's syndrome, a difficult situation for her and her family. I'm sorry, but I question her wisdom in accepting the vice-presidential nomination.

I had already determined that John McCain's judgment was flawed; my opinion has not changed.

  • Progressive women are NOT going to vote for John McCain. They know what the next Supreme Court appointments mean for women and they know that a belligerent hot head in the White House would put their children in danger.

Whatever happened to conservatives? As I recall they believed in a small federal government and avoided foreign entanglements. The GOP is the poster child for war, lobbyists, graft, and the manipulation of one issue religious leaders. Iraq and Afghanistan are both disasters, but the GOP wants more war!

Interestingly Iraq wants us gone and is very friendly with Iran. The Sunni population of Iraq has to be paid by the US to keep order because the Shia will not pay for policing in the Sunni communities and would just as soon kill all of them. Al Maliki, et al are only interested in total domination of the non-Shia population and are NOT going to share the wealth or even pay their own way so long as our taxpayers will do it.

  • McCain believes he can not only accuse Obama of treason but flat out lie and get away with it because (1) he was a prisoner of war, (2) he calls himself "pro-life" - sort of a double King's X.

You are supposed to ignore the other facts of his life that say he is a belligerent, nasty old man. He accuses Obama of being willing to "lose a war" to win an election, while he is willing to divide this country to the point of civil war to win an election. He is as diplomatic as a meat axe and as truthful as Jerome Corsi.

  • As usual, McCain scared this 76-year-old too. I almost wish he had suggested Lieberman and Graham instead of Petraeus and the E-Bay guy as his go-to guys for advice. He wants to solidify the military/corporate/government alliance.

Sure wish McCain could give an answer without telling a story or a joke; he sounds like MY grandfather.

  • According to Wikipedia:

"Corsi's book The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality was released on August 1, 2008, and is critical of Barack Obama and his candidacy for President. However, almost all of the accusations made in the book have been found to be unsubstantiated, misleading, or inaccurate.[10] Media Matters for America has also criticized the book as containing serious errors, omissions, and falsehoods.[11][12]"

Jerome Corsi (liar, liar, pants on fire) is a right wing hit man. Those who wish to believe him will. Because of his odious history, he can only preach to his choir, who will buy his book and give copies for Christmas.
