  • Oh, the other best. The post from a TPM reader about Huckabee's squirrel comments, ""So it's ok to slather a squirrel in oil and fry it on a popcorn popper, but not to marry and have sex with it? That hardly seems fair."

Posted at May 13, 2008 1:07 AM in response to Primary is Hijacked from Hillary Clinton

  • I hate to say this, but I really think Hillary will be too old in 2012. Now I'm concern trolling, but there is a HUGE double standard here. I do not have enough faith in our culture and its attitudes toward aging women. That said, I hope I age half as well as she is.

This is one case where raising expectations by HRC people probably isn't so stupid. She's going to win big, there's only one primary that night and its a foregone conclusion, the whole thing isn't going to mean anything in the long run and not that many people will be paying attention. So the rhetoric (YOU ALL ARE TOO RACIST TO VOTE FOR HIM, SO YOU'RE VOTING FOR ME!!!!! WHEEEE!!!!!) serves its purpose.

  • Webb has a lot of upside, but there are some things about him that might be a problem for some women voters, some of whom are already a little...touchy. Strickland--I wonder if the image of him bobbleheading behind HRC during the "Shame on You Barack Obama" thing would disqualify him. The trouble--as i just said somewhere else--is finding someone with experience who still fits in with the change idea. I agree with articleman that another first term senator will not get it.

Posted at May 13, 2008 12:50 AM in response to Fact: Obama's Consolidation of the Democratic Base Is Underway

  • I'm pretty skeptical that Obama's offered anyone anything at this point.

Virginia is getting more and more blue--soon the Gov and both senators will be blue. Obama will do well there.

He's got a tricky job in the VP selection, he needs to pick someone who reifies his message yet isn't new. I don;t think it will be another Senator.

  • The worst for me was losing my love of Bill Clinton. Having him go from someone I adored to this red-faced caricature, spewing this hateful stuff, having to wonder, "Wait, were they right about the Clintons this whole time?"

Best, Iowa. Watching that speech and realizing, suddenly, the world was a better place. Second best, Tuesday night.

Weirdest: Ack. Hillary's southern accent, "I don't truck with economists." The squirrel. Everything about Mitt Romney. Everything about Cindy McCain. McCain's speech in Virginia with extras from Dawn of the Dead surrounding him. Hillaryis44.
