  • Grandpa MCain and the prison of the mind.

I have sat amazed at the number of lies, misdeeds, and general malfeasance that Grandpa McCain can get away with by restating the fact that he was once a POW in a war to keep Vietnam “French.” Even more mystifying...more »

  • NO!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!!! Not another member of the family gone! I, I just, just can’t believe it. This is the only family I have left. The rest are all dead and gone! Even the cat is gone! Well, he lives with the old lady down the street now and that was expected after that whole rat trap incident. Mind you, I thought he looked better without the tail but I digress. Oh yeah, I do have my younger brother but he only turns up a couple times a year when he needs help with some massive project that involves a lot of time, tools, and expensive hospitalization! So that’s no good. Wait, where was I? Oh yeah. YOU CAN’T GO!!! Was it me? Was I too clingy? I can change! Well not really… I have to admit I am the human equivalent of plastic wrap and equally suffocating but isn’t that what being family is all about? Still, everyday this family gets smaller and smaller as each member fights over how much more they love Obama and hate McCain. Then there is the whole “Palin faction” made up of lovers, rather homoerotic lovers, haters, and extremely violent boarding on psychotic haters. We are tearing ourselves apart! Please TPM family can we not wallow in the muck together is there not enough vile refuse left from this administration that we all can’t find an extremist point to call our own? Come lets us dance with the devil in the pale moonlight once again. Please don’t go, think of the children…

  • Obama did a great job! Much more controlled and clear then his previous debates. That said Grandpa McCain did very well and managed not to lose his temper to the point of being obvious. Granted McCain set up a lot of easy punches for Obama that were missed like veterans affairs, more tax cuts for the rich, and the fact that Iraq is not Vietnam and the world dynamic is very different forty years later. Sad Grandpa McCain never looked at his opponent but maybe he can't see that far or turn his head without turning his whole dying body? That said, a good debate overall and much less lopsided then I expected.

Posted at September 26, 2008 4:31 PM in response to McCain's 5 Part Plan for Fixing the Economy

  • I have to agree with Billy Glad, this is the best strategy for a losing candidate. The "rubes" in fly over country, otherwise known as the republican base, will see this as a bold move of leadership. Grandpa K5 McCain's move does not need to be based in reality at all. The impression is that of a seasoned veteran and POW fighting to put America right again. No pun intended. No matter the outcome his base and a few of the dumbest undecided will vote McCain because he seems to care about America more than Obama. All McCain needs now is a compliant media needing to sell a hero along with his attached ad space and the scheme is complete. It will work as intended but will the base and a few of the great unwashed be enough to pull off the election? We shall see?
