  • Are you kidding me? Ralph Reed? McCain lies and flip-flops up and down the dial and this is the best they can come up with? There is one four-lettered Republican that can sink McCain, but it's not Ralph Reed.

Also, watch for the response ad featuring Rezko any day now. The allegations will be BS, as usual, but they'll be more effective than this.

  • Furthermore, McCain benefited by the splitting of the conservative base between Huckabee and Romney. If either one of those two had not been in the race, or had dropped out earlier (or if Romney had endorsed Huckabee over McCain), I think we would have had a very different outcome.

  • Exactly. The Mayflower arrived in 1620, the first Africans in 1619. We were here before the Pilgrims.

  • "McPocrisy" is a good term, especially when compared to the inspirational approach of "Barackracy." I can hear the chants now...

To be fair, though, not every NRA member is a "gun nut." The majority of gun owners that I know are both safe and responsible. I don't always agree with the NRA politically, but the rank and file are not best embodied by the late Charlton Heston.

  • You mean the speech in which Edwards had copious and glowing remarks about Clinton, calling her caring, applauding her "steel," and doing nothing but praising her character? I just wanted to make sure that we were talking about the same thing.

Now, if you wanted to argue that it was a mistake on the part of the media to make the Edwards endorsement a bigger story, at least last night, then I would wholeheartedly agree.

  • I'm sure that nepotism had nothing to do with Bill's endorsement...

Also, if Iowans thought he was so crazy, why did he beat Hillary in the caucuses? Also, remember that this was at least a month before she became the candidate of the "working class."

  • I meant more voters turn out for primaries. Sorry.

  • I agree with this. Even in Iowa (where I participated in two caucuses), which tends to be a swing rather than heavy "red" state, caucuses serve the important purpose of party building. More voters turn out for caucuses, yes, but the IA-style primary gets the people who do show up more involved in the process. It also provides more room at the county and state conventions for people who initially supported less popular candidates, giving them a voice in platform construction.
