I think the point is that Jonah Goldberg just likes to hear himself talk, he doesn't really care whether he makes any sense at all.

That's two different presumptions. I don't think there are very many people capable of believing that without the United States this crisis would not exist. The US, via the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war, is clearly to blame for this crisis.  The idea that it would simply end if the US leaves is a straw man, of course it won't end simply. But it will not 'end' until the US leaves.
