Obama up 16 points in Gallup poll
Wow--this is as spectacular as the Portland rally. Obama is up 55 to 39 percent in the Gallup national daily tracking poll. This is Obama's largest lead yet. Looks like he's completely pulling away. Is this because of Edwards, the superdelegates,...more »

Fauckdacity: Obama knew how bad it would be
Do my fellow readers remember the time you first read one of the Obama smear e-mails? The ones that dredge up Muslim associations (doubly hard to refute without insulting Islamic American voters?), the ones that question Obama's mothers' sexual proclivities...more »

You have a point, but perhaps the bigger meaning is this just proves how terrible HOward Dan has been for the Democratic party. Can't even get the convention venue squared away yet!

That was funny! Goes over about as well as the "just words" critique, or the "giving people false hopes" critique.

This seems faked, but so what? If a Democrat were criticized for this I'd say the same thing: ads aren't real--the swishing logos, the stock-footage sleeping kids--it's all an advertisement.
The thing here is that it's so obviously bad, but I don't think this means the candidate is any less real than if his ad were slicker. Maybe this is good, because it's bad that it's obvious it's all just made up!

Hear, hear! I am all for the rehabilitation of the Obama supporters' image, and of Hillary Clinton's image among the public and the members of this on-line community.

In the Politico article, it says that Karl Rove is actively seeking out funders for such a 527. This should be the take-home message of the Politico article: Rove Seeks Smear Group Funders.

As a Virginian, I'm readying myself for disappointment--I was optimistic in 2004 and Kerry lost by 5 percent or more. But then, we have since elected another Democratic governor and Webb as a Democratic senator. Where I live, the right-wingers are in full force in the letters to the editors page.
Perhaps organization is the key, though, and this will turn the tide--I'll stay a hopemonger, but realistic at the same time.

If McCain can't stand up to the 527s, how is he going to take on Al Qaeda?
Good post Greg. I especially like the line highlighted above. That would make a good title, or lede, for the next inevitable sotry on the latest 527 smear of Obama we'll see.Posted at June 12, 2008 1:54 PM in response to McCain: I Can't Stop Outside Groups From Attacking Obama
