Henry probably mouthed "we're live" to Novak, who probably didn't realize that this was NOT a taped show. As a previous post noted, Novak had motive for trying to ruin the segment, he may have thought was taped, because he didn't want to address the Plame affair (and that is a copy of the Who's Who book as a prop on the table in front of him! http://www.marquiswhoswho.com/products/WAprodinfo.asp)

As others have noted, that is Who's Who on the table in front of Novak. Look at http://www.marquiswhoswho.com/products/WAprodinfo.asp and check out the video.
The book had been sitting there since the break, so this set the stage for Novak's otherwise inexplicable departure. Clearly, nothing that happened DURING the segment fully explains his behavior. On watching the video repeatedly, it appears to me that the "let it go" comment was related to the blurting out of the obscenity. But what is unexplained is why Novak would blurt out the obscenity. It is clear to me that he was uncomfortable with the impending discussion of the Plame affair discussion, and the Who's Who prop.

Yes, there are two coverups in the Plame scandal.
- The thing started as a way of covering up the lies and dubious evidence that lead to war (and to related falsehoods in the 2003 state of the union speech).
- The ongoing and growing coverup by Bush, MeClennan and Rove about the Plame scandal
One-liner: From a coverup of WMD lies to a coverup of treason.

Tagline 1:
Its not politics, its treason
Tagline 2:A treasonous coverup

I agree that it is good for Rove to stay around well into next years election cycle. If it were a solitary scandal it wouldn't be so powerful, but combined with all the lies about WMD and everything else, along with Delay's many ethical problems, the Duke-stir and the many other Republican scandals in Kentucky and Ohio, etc, there is a clear pattern. The democrats need to name and reiterate it continually.
We need to tag the Republicans the way they tagged us with "tax and spend" incessantly, so that every individual news item resonates as another tip of the "dirty tricks" (or some such tagline) iceberg.
We need a tagline. Something that says Republican Arrogance/Dishonest/Manipulation/Currpution. It will stick because it will represent a fundamental truth. Then it will be like when you buy a new car, you suddenly see that make of car everywhere.
The Rove story perfectly epitomizes the fundamental faults of the Republicans in power. It includes
- Lying (the initial untruth about WMD, lies about Wilson being sent by his wife, the ongoing/growing WHite House coverup about the scandal -- just like lies about so many other subjects)
- Dirty Tricks (the good old Bush family campaign shananigans, from Lee Atwater's treatment of Dukakis, to Rove's treatment of McCain, and smearing of Kerry's war record, and hiding W's past drug use, drunk driving and military service)
- Politicization of Terrorism (revealing Plame compromised our national security, and this reveals truth that administration doesn't fundamentally care about terrorism, although it uses this issue for political gain, self-aggrandizement of corporate buddies, and justification for failed Iraq policy.)
