"False Hope" on Hillary's Chances
It's ironic that Hillary Clinton derides Obama about "false hope." She is selling it to her own supporters. The only hope Hillary has at this point is to convince the Super Delegates that New York, California, Ohio and (probably) Pennsylvania matter...more »

What If Clinton Wins?
I have a bad feeling. I don't know why, logic tells me a Clinton comeback is about as likely as Cheney suddenly announcing he'll run for President.Maybe it was Obama gloomily telling reporters, "Remember New Hampsire." Maybe it's the fact...more »

Cunningham to Endorse Hillary?
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=75014288(link to audio)NPR thought it was fine to repeat "Barack Hussein Obama" over and over, and didn't ask any obvious follow-up questions to Cunningham's assertions that he was simply calling Barack by his full name, like all Presidents.A question that...more »

Obama in San Antonio
Today, I went to volunteer for Obama's first appearance in San Antonio. Obama was coming to a small area in the west side of San Antonio. There were Hillary signs in some of the local shops, so I think Obama...more »

Sounds like a plan.
But first, we have to wait for the Republicans to nominate Giuliani.

I don't know if this is as damaging as some liberals think.
What are we going to do? Vote for McCain?
No, if this move helps win some conservatives over to our cause, it's worth it. I still trust that Obama will not be spying on or locking up members of Greenpeace.

"What Barack Obama will do is show that he's willing to change positions, break campaign commitments and undermine his own words in his quest for higher office."
And you know what, McCain?
It's working.
Maybe if YOU didn't flip-flop on immigration reform, off-shore drilling, and torture, you would have something to stand on.
As it is, McCain stands for nothing but more of the usual.

"Obama: No More Malia And Sasha Interviews
Barack Obama has had a change of heart regarding the media attention surrounding his daughters, after watching the recent Access Hollywood interview with his whole family. "I don't think it's healthy and it's something we'll be avoiding in the future," Obama told ABC's Good Morning America."I think this is a good idea, but I have a funny feeling Obama will get flack for it.

It's OK for McCain to joke about killing Iranians...
that's what his base WANTS him to do.
Why do you think people criticize Obama for wanting to TALK to Iran?

This is one of the better McCain ads I've seen (which isn't saying much).
I'm less critical about the "Don't hope for a better life. Vote for one." I'm more critical of the beginning: there is simply no reason or excuse to alienate all hippies from your cause.
McCain could have sold himself as a hero without taking down an entire voting block. The fact he didn't makes it clear: the Republicans have learned nothing from the failure of divisive politics.
If the choice is about Unity vs Cultural War, who do you think will win?

I think the reason Obama is being quiet is this really doesn't hurt him.
Implying he has changed his mind (or is OPEN to changing his mind) just makes him see more moderate than McCain.
Frankly, I'm really not sure what McCain gains out of this. I suppose he's trying to suppress the liberal vote, but all I can with that strategy is "good luck with that!"
The good thing is McCain has been branded as a bad for the economy, and the economy is the Number 1 issue.
I also loved how McCain says success in Iraq will save up money.
Do you know what would really save us money? Getting the hell out of Iraq.
End of story.

"Better the devil you know", eh?
Except in this case, it's not. We know McCain will be in Iraq for as long as he can. He'll set up permanent bases. Hell, he might even invade Iran. He's that crazy, you know.
Obama might be an unknown, but in this case, I'd rather HOPE Obama keeps his word on Iraq than vote for what I KNOW will be more War under McCain.
Posted at July 7, 2008 12:59 PM in response to Obama Reiterates: Combat Troops Out Of Iraq In 16 Months
-
I'm not convinced this is a BAD thing.
Look, if anybody is voting for Obama PURELY on the War in Iraq, this will not change their mind. Obama is STILL the best choice to end the war in Iraq. That's clear.
However, anybody who had the mistaken opinion that Obama was going to immediately send every troop back home as soon as he became President, and was afraid of voting for Obama, now sees that Obama is not a radical leftist, but a pragmatist, who will do what he thinks is best.
It's always seemed ironic to me that the media is more concerned about Obama's "flip-flops" on issues he DOESN'T flip flop on, rather than ones he does (like FISA).
Look, the flip-flop charged worked on Kerry. I don't think it will work on Obama, because for one, people's desire for change will overshadow everything else, and two, people are not THAT stupid.
They know: McCain equals more war (War in Iran?). Obama does not.
And that's really the only message that gets through. No neo-conservative is going to be fooled thinking Obama is suddenly pro-war, and I doubt any TRUE independents will either.
