Grading the election on the curve.
Since 2000 the republicans have been able to get presidential politics graded on a curve by lowering expectations . Since last Friday they have been running this ploy again. Tonight Sarah Palin gave her vice presidential acceptance speech and it...more »

Country First my rosy red A**
So here we are officially on the first night of the RNC and all I have heard from these people is that since I am a liberal I am not a true American. I am so sick and tired of...more »

A Pyrrhic victory
A Pyrrhic victory (IPA: /ˈpɪrɪk/) is a victory with devastating cost to the victor. The phrase is an allusion to King Pyrrhus of Epirus, whose army suffered irreplaceable casualties in defeating the Romans at Heraclea in 280 BC and Asculum in 279 BC during the Pyrrhic War. After the latter battle, Plutarch relates in a report by Dionysius:The armies separated;...more »

Plain and Simple
So at long last this is it. In Hillary's world anything that gets her the nomination is good. Anything that might deny her the nomination is bad. Even if these things create paradox they don't care. She does not care...more »

David Duke vs. Louis Farrakhan
After Barack Obama’s historic speech yesterday it seems the Right’s new talking point is to say he has not gone far enough in distancing himself from what they consider to be a racist church. As a case in I have...more »

Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee
Boxing analogies seem to be ruling here lately. As a boxing fan I am quite happy about this. Also I like the idea of casting Obama as Muhammad Ali. The GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!! So what if he is running...more »

If Hillary has superdelegate status...
She should have it taken away. With her coments today talking about McCain's fitnesse to be commander in chief, she has come dangerously close to if not outright breaking the Zell Miller rule. It seems like she would rather have...more »

There is also a chance that the council is being too clever by half. If the majority members of the council wanted to hold on to it for a while so that when they do release the report it will be closer to the election.

Which is totally the point. The proof that this is not a bi-partisan step but merely a political ploy is that they did not release a joint statement. If this were real all the details would have been worked out between the campaigns before there was an announcement.

Josh was right. Obama should just keep using the phrase "Lipstick on a pig" to refer to McCain's policies. Let them scream their heads off about it. Who cares. Everyone know's what it means. Also keep using that other turn of phrase that describes them so well. "Liar"

Not suprised, just disapointed.

Remember when the republicans say "Arrogant" or "Ambitious" you need to read the code for "Uppity Ni**er." Unpleasant but true.

One Word. Deterrence. McCain wants to play these games. Fine then. Obama needs to hit him on the fact that If we were not occupied with a pointless war in Iraq then Russia wouldn't have had the balls to invade Georgia. Drive home the point that Iraq has weakened us and use Georgia to drive the point home. I am betting that is the angle he takes tomorrow when He speaks to the VFW.

They keep doing it over and over again though. Hypocrisy seems to come quite naturally to them. As does underestimating the American people. "Do as I say, not as I do" is not much of a campaign slogan.
